Date Posted：29/03/2010 4:36 AMCopy HTML I teach a Social Studies unit to my Grade 1s here that starts off with Egypt then moves into the 3 major monotheistic religions (Judaism, Islam and Christianity). I like to use the animated movie, The Prince of Egypt, as it shows both Egyptian culture and the Exodus story, a key myth for the Jewish people, in a way the kids can grasp easily (Yes, I teach it tolerantly and with sensitivity to kids of all faiths).
While watching the plagues fall on the Egyptians, one of my kids asked, "Is this god a good god or a bad one?" I have to agree, it seems, without some preconditioning, it is hard to tell. |
