so, the question was ... did you ever tell a massive fib  when giving a gift...?! ... did you intentionally repremand someone via the gifts or make up something totally stupid!!! Neither, but I did try a little experiment once. At a large Revivalist assembly that I was visiting one Sunday, I praised God aloud in Hebrew during the 'gifts'. A very well known pastor then 'interpreted' my 'tongue', or should I say he thoroughly misinterpreted it (i.e. what he said in English bore no resemblance to what I had said in Hebrew). Of course his response was replete with all the standard "thees", "thous", "thus saith the Lords" and "yeas" that are designed to imbue a private opinion with divine authority; but unfortunately the pastor got it wrong ... dead wrong.

This experience of mine certainly isn't unique (it's been replicated several times by friends of mine), so it must call into question the value and the validity of "spiritual gifts" as practised in these sects.

In conclusion what passes for supernatural messages in Revivalism is naught but sheer bunk and hokum. So a better title for this thread might be: "spiritual gifts in Revival-were they ever real?" ;)

 FWIW ..revivalism is its own unique cultic worship. Orthodox it aint :-)

mmm, in the  last months when  trying to leave/escape from CAI....  but  I  was too caught up  with  figuring my  escape strategy (and understanding why I would/wouldn't automatically burn in hell for leaving CAI).


GIFTS - what /rubbish/waste...
What really pissed me off was how 'bla-zay' people were.
here's God's  true church gathering / praising the Lord etc.  
We break bread and exercise divine gifts and are especially honored with a divine message.

... no one's there to job down what was said.
there is total  lack of any interest (post-service) to discuss  the gifts/their message etc.
nope - let's just turn on the music,fellowship and get the food on the way, and gather the next offering etc.
 .... do we give a SXXt what the Lord has said to us,  no  bollocks we do/did.


Gifts are rubbish (i.e.  not  divine).
why would God even bother --  no one wants  to listen to Him  anyway.

It's hard to tell if the gifts in meetings are true, in theory record one persons tongue in a meeting and wait for a translation, then play the same recording back in another meeting and a completely different answer is given, Discerning of spirits should be the main gift , never known any one who has that power, to me that is the most important one.

Why is it 10-15 seconds of tongues, then converts into up to 2 minutes + of interpretation, in   Brissy the same people 3 years ago where ask to keep it simple, my recent visit confirms again the same people chatter on long time, just is not right, maybe the tongue speakers need to go a bit longer.

I question Lord, if any in RCI have a thought generated by the Holy Spirit concerning the gifts, it just becomes a routine, we will have 3 of these then 3 will answer then 3 to finish off every week non fail, always the simular expressions of sayings and news , is there any real proficies, or just the same be good look out for the evil one, time is close to the end, just the usual watch wait don't sin.
