Date Posted:17/11/2005 6:32 AMCopy HTML $%*'`[Archie]%*'`@I am an ex RF member and I know many current and former members. The grapevine in the UK tells me that one long standing assembly has vanished, with others seriously diminished in size.Has anything specific happened or has legalism and control just done its usual job?Can anybody comment on RF UK?ThanksArchie

You're right, they have been strong in the Lord. I remember what an impression the two young pre teen boys made on me at a housemeeting in NL in the early 80s, I was bowled over by the prophecies from such young people.. Both eventualy became very active in leadership. Some thing very serious has happened if they are all gone, as you say. But then it seems to me , from reading these threads, it's the beginning of the end of this cultish organisation, and a good thing too My pictures not too far from a likeness, only I still have all my hair. Hey Moth, Some of these threads are bringing out some interesting stuff, for one thing I reckon I'm sticking my nose of the BOX (a very small Box it's been) and it seems that many have just jumped from one Box to another (equally small). You know I've been hovering around the site for 3 weeks now and I'm still in the box (i know it) but I think its walls are starting to push out a bit. it is the glory of God to conceal a matter but the honour of kings to search it out.

Make a big hole in it and break out before the wall collapses and flattens you brother. It was never built on a firm foundation. The cracks are getting bigger by the day.

What part of London do you hold your meetings in, if I am allowed to ask? Did you ever know Ray Ledger? Cheers. I know what you"re thinking....did I put 5 people out or 6?... I guess in all the excitement I kinda lost count myself...so the question is, do you feel lucky?...well do you, punk? - Clint Eastwood

Also Granville Finney and his family? "for there is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so" Shakespeare (Hamlet, Act 2, Scene 2)

This can only be my last surviving ( RF ) family member, who I posted about on this thread recently. Struggling to keep a small flock together after it was left without a shepherd, became a victim to legalism, and extreme over bearing behavior, decided enough was enough. To read why this flock was left shepherdless, and the treatment the shepherd and his wife recieved after 22 yrs loyal service, read the thread, Dis-Fellowshipped Atter 22 Yrs.. The lady was H, and was the shepherds daughter.

Re:UK Revival Fellowship Date Posted:05/03/2007 6:54 AMCopy HTML Remember "Tarquin "very well from the dim and distant past, and the teacosy bishops mitre, nearly fell off my chair laughing., at the skit. We always looked forward to Worthings contribution at annual camp. Alas no more, purged, liquidated, never to be spoken of. Victims of another progrom of the totalitarian, loveless regime. Re:UK Revival Fellowship Date Posted:05/03/2007 8:30 AMCopy HTML I saw it in a video. It was kind of funny watching all these camp videos and hearing about how funny and great some of these people were and then hearing about how they are 'not with us any more' and how there was some bad business etc. etc. To be fair the RF contained some great entertainers - I remember a N.Ireland convention skit involving someone going to the doctors and being told he mustn't take any more 'nicey niceys' (=no more false doctrines/compromises). The way it was all done was just very funny. And here I sit so patiently waiting to find out what price / I have to pay to get out of going through all these things twice

I have to confess that I wrote that one. I woke my wife up laughing in the middle of the night back in 1992 as the ideas for the skit ran through my head. Must have been pure inspiration. I didn't have many crowning moments, but that might have been one of them. It's funny to think of you watching the ghosts from Christmas past on the video TA, I dont think we ever met did me? Worthing had probably vanished when you first came along. Regards Gregg |

I hope so too Franky. I remember what legalism did to us, and I am still concerned about the affect my own previous legalistic superiority complex might have had on a couple of guys I went to school with, both of whom came along to the Worthing assembly. One is in Kent now, the other in Hungary. I probably didn't influence them for the good. Legalism squeezes the joy out of a person. The letter of the law kills.

Re:UK Revival Fellowship Date Posted:08/03/2007 4:09 PMCopy HTML $%*'`[Tarquins other half]%*'`@Hi anonymous uk person, and Old Holbourn. I'm glad that Mr F could put his side of the story here. I'm really sorry to hear about Mrs F, and the fact that she was shunned by her christian family. I'm glad you've found a loving place to be. Anyone can see that this treatment is ungodly, so why on earth can't the RFers see it??
My non christian mum would ask about the friends of ours that she knew, and I had to say to her that they will not have anything to do with us anymore because we are not in their church group! It was really embarrassing to have to say that to her. Anyway, I'm thinking maybe I'll write our side of the worthing saga here. we were good little vegemites, and just disappeared into the ether, didn't contact anyone, (except to enquire after people occasionaly) didn't send any letters. After the bad, bad time we had, it was a relief to get my sanity back again. I think I wiped the dust off my feet. However, it now seems that with this forum, God has provided a way to shine light on those things that were hid by the Oversights of these various Churches. I know our names were muddied, and we were humble enough to live with that, but perhaps God wants truth to be said. I could do the long version , or the short , or the medium.... |

WelcomeTarquins annon. other half, thanks for your comments. I think you should go for the full unexpurgated version, we keep getting people on here defending this un-Godly organisation. THe only way to convince them of it's ungodly ways, and show them up for what they are is to "publish and be dammned". You could start a new thread "Backsliders Wives" or "Worthing Wife Reveals All " Go for it .girl. "But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord "

Yeh, I've asked the other half if she could not say too much about the ex-Worthing leader as I would like to go and see him one day. It was the UK Council of pastors (very loose term) whose brilliance helped get Worthing where it is today. Worthing soon vanished once they were involved and our names have been muddied for sure. Never mind. The former pastor of Northern Ireland apologised to me for his part in it and asked me to pray for him. That aside they all disappeared, but comments made by them got back to us. If truth causes an explosion then it must explode, but as soon as you compromise it it will bite you in the bum somewhere down the track. We are now down the track. Now my old friends are in a strange situation. Any new person can walk through their doors and once a member, they can go onto the internet and find this site and read about their new church. It seems nothing can stop this, it is here forever, and everyone can read about it. Other church groups have not got sites like this full of wounded people because they behave with decorum (in the main). Every action has an equal and opposite reaction, isn't that a scientific law? |

Re:UK Revival Fellowship Date Posted:28/04/2008 12:05 PMCopy HTML Revival Centres have some positives but I think the mid 1990s exposed them as being another church, it was obvious to me that the tall poppy syndrome is alive and well in Melbourne and Adelaide. Pastor Lloyd should have been challenged way earlier about many an issue. RCI had a bigger focus on group superiority than promoting core christian qualities.Time from these organisations gives a better perspective on the place!!!

Re:UK Revival Fellowship Date Posted:15/09/2010 3:51 AMCopy HTML I was at the North London Revival Centre from about 1988-1990 (age 17-20). Pastor Ray Ledger was the main guy running it with Chris Kernahan (spelling?) and his family heavily involved. Meetings were at a school near Whitchurch playing fields. I remember Martin (who was not a pastor back then). He and his dad allowed me to come with them and watch Chelsea's final game of the season when they got promoted to the top division. My first time at the Bridge.
I recall there was a large following in Hemel Hempstead who used to join us regularly. I became mates with a bloke called Alan, who had two sisters who were very devoted to the Church. Alan struggled a bit as he was smoker with an eye for the ladies. My brother, Mum and I got baptised at a camp in summer 1988. There were a lot of Australians in the group. Maybe that influenced me a bit as I now live in Perth, but still have family in North London. Mark. |

Re:UK Revival Fellowship Date Posted:15/09/2010 3:54 AMCopy HTML Oooh. Have to mention Mark Head who wrote many songs and was always with his guitar. He wrote one called, 'Through His Power', which was the theme of the camp I went on and got baptised. I still remember it now, probably because we sang it every day. Does anyone remember him and his wife, Nikki?
