Re:GRC Videos: Horror Comedy Dramas Date Posted:24/09/2011 6:37 AMCopy HTML Guest, Ian is SO ugly on the inside make no difference how he looks. I hate it when people make a judgment about someone else when they obviously know nothing about that person. I have personally met Ian (definitely NOT fat and ugly) and he came across as somebody very intelligent and kind hearted. His dealings with me on this forum have been in the interest of my spiritual welfare which is more important than temporal matters, and which I’m most grateful. You don’t know what is on the inside (heart) of any person, unless of course you think you are God. Re:GRC Videos: Horror Comedy Dramas Date Posted:24/09/2011 7:44 AMCopy HTML Guest,
Ian is SO ugly on the inside make no difference how he looks. Let's review. Eyewitness testimony, coupled with my photo, disproved Canuck's allegation that I'm fat. It also called into question his assertion that I'm physically ugly. Apparently all that's left for the likes of you to hang your collective hats on (by way of ad hominem attack) is the rather vacuous claim that I'm spiritually ugly. Well, God has used, and yet continues to use me to help Revivalists to find Christ to good effect, so I reckon you're swatting at ether on the last score too ;) Try harder, Goose. Re:GRC Videos: Horror Comedy Dramas Date Posted:25/09/2011 12:50 AMCopy HTML Guest,
Clearly they breed 'em bitter in Adelaide. 1Co 15:50 'Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption'. God doesnt want your stinking flesh ian. Perhaps you hadn't heard, being a Revivalist and all, but the resurrection is physical. Consequently, 'For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth: And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God.' (Job 19:25, 26 KJV). Pro 3:31 'Don't be jealous of cruel people or follow their example'. The Hebrew text of Proverbs 3:31 reads,ל־תְּ֭קַנֵּא בְּאִ֣ישׁ חָמָ֑ס וְאַל־תִּ֝בְחַ֗ר בְּכָל־דְּרָכָֽיו׃, and μὴ κτήσῃ κακῶν ἀνδρῶν ὀνείδη μηδὲ ζηλώσῃς τὰς ὁδοὺς αὐτῶν in its Greek translation (the LXX). In the grammatical context of our proverb, the masculine singluar absolute noun חָמָ֑ס properly means 'to be sinfully violent', whilst the corresponding Greek adjective κακῶν tilts towards the immediate effects of moral evil. Consequently when translated as 'cruel', the meaning is one of physical cruelty borne from moral depravity rather than simply 'harsh' words. A preferable translation, one that removes any misplaced ambiguity, would be much as the ESV has rendered things: 'Do not envy a man of violence, and do not choose any of his ways.' Your proof-text, then, simply doesn't fit the context you've sought to twist it towards :) Now I strongly suggest that you consider the implications of the following pearl of Jewish wisdom: 'The assembly will be eager to hear from an intelligent person and will take his opinion seriously'. (Sirach 21:17). Get it yet? ;P Twit. Ian email: didaktikon@gmail.com

Re:GRC Videos: Horror Comedy Dramas Date Posted:25/09/2011 5:41 AMCopy HTML Hi Ian, In quoting from Sirach (21 : 17) are you offering the forum guest the opportunity to do some valuable research? Do you think he/she would have heard of Sirach/Ecclesiasticus and for that matter, would he/she have heard of the Apocrypha? Once, in a Sunday talk a Rev. pastor announced that he would clarify a KJV verse by using wording from NIV. I later commented on the use of the NIV to a youngish house leader who asked "What is NIV. Is it a type of concordance?" I'll leave it there. Regards Epi |

Re:GRC Videos: Horror Comedy Dramas Date Posted:25/09/2011 10:59 AMCopy HTML Hi, Epi.
In quoting from Sirach (21:17) are you offering the forum guest the opportunity to do some valuable research? Do you think he/she would have heard of Sirach/Ecclesiasticus and for that matter, would he/she have heard of the Apocrypha? I view part of my role on this forum as an educator; consequently, one of my aims is to challenge people to expand their horizons by opening their minds. This is crucial given that Revivalists are, by-and-large, a biased and ignorant lot. Consider, before I came here most viewers had never heard of the word 'exegesis', and had little to no idea of the importance the various contexts play in properly grasping biblical meaning. The same likely rings true with respect to the Apocraphal/Deuterocanonical writings. I'd go so far as to wager that the average Revivalist has absolutely no idea that Jude, the Lord's brother, quoted from an apocryphon or two in his general epistle ;) Once, in a Sunday talk a Rev. pastor announced that he would clarify a KJV verse by using wording from NIV. I later commented on the use of the NIV to a youngish house leader who asked "What is NIV. Is it a type of concordance?" I'll leave it there. As I said, 'a biased an ignorant lot'. Ralph, Happy birthday, old man! Given that you've expended your 'three score and ten', I reckon your chances of a happy hereafter are much greater now than they were say, five years ago ;) But seriously, considering your energy (how many kids have you fathered again?) I'm confident that you'll be 'knocking about' for another decade or two at least :) Blessings, both. Ian email: didaktikon@gmail.com

I rather think Ian would do a whole lot better with SL of RCI than with the blustering bombast DW who leads the Melbourne arm of your old group the RF, or with any of the retirement group of pastors/ex pastors there who follow in his image, DW's that is. Regarding the Apocryphal/Deuterocanonical books the Revs who've heard of them might be aghast to know that these books were contained in the original KJV and remained there until the end of the 19th century.

I don't know. Given Ian's good trackwork with revivalists, I can't see DW getting too far past the starting barrier either. Like the rest of his contemporaries, the result will be very predictable :-p . I await the good reports that Ian may decide to post for us to read.... Regarding the Apocryphal/Deuterocanonical books the Revs who've heard of them might be aghast to know that these books were contained in the original KJV and remained there until the end of the 19th century. I think the KJV had only about 14 of the OT Pseudepigrapha but in all I know there are around 65 works circulating. I am not sure if Sirach was included in the old KJV.
Only yesterday I found an error in Romans 8:28 and I aint the greatest of brains when it comes to Biblical languages. God Bless, Epi God's Blessing be upon you too Epi Eric |

Re:GRC Videos: Horror Comedy Dramas Date Posted:03/10/2011 8:33 PMCopy HTML Good morning, Eric.
If we're discussing the KJV, then it's the 'Apocrypha' and not the 'Pseudeprigrapha' that are in view, Old Man. The two are quite distinct collections of writings, so it's necessary to be careful to use the correct titles when referring to each. And 'yes', Eccelsiasticus was included in the KJV as originally published. Blessings, Ian email: didaktikon@gmail.com
