I remember while attending the GRC every time therewas an explosion of conflict in or around Israel, N.H would alwayssee it as a sure sign of the quickly approaching end times. But thebig problem with this is that it creates a "boy that cried wolf" syndrome. Remember the cold war? Every one in the GRC was lead to beleive world war 3 wasvery close. Many where told it was not worth going to Uni,to get a good caree, as it would have been in vain. Yes wemay eventually tire of the conflict in Israel, so much so that we will not recognize when true prophetically significant events occur, butConflict in Israel is not necessarily a sign of the end times...Its been 3 years since I'v been in the GRC, but i cancertainly tell you what the Sunday Night talks are about, N.h would be loving this persentfight in Israel has it will give him some fire with fearto play with, whichwill help himgain some control back.Ok so this is now what i beleive to be the truth. I know many poeple may disagree,or dont even care, lol, but after 3 years of GRC detox of there bible errors, i have found a joy and freedom in the Lord that i never had in the GRCConflict in Israel has been a reality whenever Israel has existed as a nation. Whether it was the Egyptians, Amalekites, Midianites, Moabites, Ammonites, Amorites, Philistines, Assyrians, Babylonians, Persians, or Romans - the nation of Israel has always been surrounded by and persecuted by its neighbors. Why is this? According to the Bible, it is because God has a special plan for the nation of Israel, and Satan wants to defeat that plan. Satanically influenced hatred of Israel is the reason that Israel's neighbors have always wanted to see Israel destroyed. Whether it is Sennacherib, king of Assyria, Haman, official of Persia, Hitler, leader of Nazi Germany, or Ahmadinejad, President of Iran - attempts to ultimately destroy Israel will always fail. The persecutors of Israel will come and go...but the persecution will remain. As a result, conflict in Israel cannot be considered a reliable indicator of the soon arrival of the end times. At the same time, there will be terrible conflict in Israel during the end times. That is why the time period is known as the Tribulation, the Great Tribulation, and the "time of Jacob's trouble" (Jeremiah 30:7). Here is what the Bible does say about Israel in the end times:There will be a mass return of Jews to the land of Israel (Deuteronomy 30:3; Isaiah 43:6; Ezekiel 34:11-13; 36:24; 37:1-14).The antichrist will make a 7-year covenant of "peace" with Israel (Isaiah 28:18; Daniel 9:27).The Temple will be rebuilt in Jerusalem (Daniel 9:27; Matthew 24:15; 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4; Revelation 11:1).The antichrist will break his covenant with Israel. Worldwide persecution of Israel will result (Daniel 9:27; 12:1, 11; Zechariah 11:16; Matthew 24:15, 21; Revelation 12:13). Israel will be invaded (Ezekiel chapters 38-39).Israel will finally recognize Jesus as the Messiah (Zechariah 12:10). Israel will be regenerated, restored, and regathered (Jeremiah 33:8; Ezekiel 11:17; Romans 11:26).There is much turmoil in Israel today. Israel is persecuted, surrounded by enemies - the Palestinians, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Hezbollah, etc. This hatred and persecution of Israel is only a hint of what will happen in the end times (Matthew 24:15-21). Israel has been persecuted since it was reconstituted as a nation in 1948. Many Bible prophecy scholars believed the six-day Arab-Israeli war in 1973 was the "beginning of the end." Could what is taking place in Israel today indicate that the end is near? Yes. Does it necessarily mean the end is near? No. Jesus Himself said it best, "Watch out that no one deceives you. For many will come in my name, claiming, 'I am the Christ,' and will deceive many. You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come" (Matthew 24:4-6).
A man died and went to heaven. He was met by Jesus and Jesus began to show him around. As they walked they saw some amazing things. Some too beautiful and amazing to describe. Eventually they came to a huge wall and the man heard the sound of music, laughing and what basically sounded like a party coming from behind the wall. Curious, the man asked Jesus what was going on behind the wall. Jesus answered, "Shhhh!!! Not too loud. That"s the GRC. They think they"re the only ones here!!!"

Ha, check this out... interesting! The time is SHORT. Bades well for preterism argument!

1 Cor 7:29 But this I say, brethren, the time is short: it remaineth, that both they that have wives be as though they had none;

Why don't the literal- fundy reader's take that into account?  and demonstrate their 'faith' in the "word' by not getting married.....buying a house....etc. etc. Why save for old age or plan for anything......? (Chic)

My sister is a full-on fundy AOG christian type. She annoys the crap out of me with all her 'stuff'... anyway, she doesn't believe in contraception and has five kids to prove it. The Lord told her that she'd have seven kids so she counts the miscarriages too. The Lord told her the last one would be a boy, but I guess He can't get 'em all right. I'm kinda hoping one of them turns out to be gay. Umm, what was the point of this? Oh yeah! She believes contraception is tantamount to murder - by using a condom you are actually preventing potential humans from existing!!!

Sooooo, if Noel is saying crap to put people off having children then he's a MURDERER in the eyes of my fundy sister.

My sister has five kids and they all have to go to private christian schools because they'd get corrupted otherwise. They live on cereal because they can't afford much else. With their spare money they buy DVDs because they won't accept anything from my stolen pirated collection. Sheesh, she's a nutter... and far too much like me for my liking.

I'll miss that avatar MS... love images that shock and confront. I mean they're stick figures... Hasn't anyone seen someone rip the stomach out of someone and wear it as a hat... umm... yeah... sounds bad when you type it out LOL Classic. How much more violent can you get!  Absolutely classic. Don't watch Hostel or Saw whatever you do girls hehehe. bad.

Reply to : HolyandSinful       He didn't actually tell young couples not to have children, but he would get them to put off getting married ( particularly if the pedigree wasn't right-hush, we are talking about mixed race unions here).

He gave a speech from the "platform" once that we, "the saints" were never to question any young married couple with the old catch cry "and when are you going to start a family?" I think this was only because one of his sons had been married for ages and no children were forthcoming.

As for Hostel, got it ages ago, but when my kids saw I had it they banned me from watching it and made me give it to one of their friends!!!!

Oh, and by the way, the GRC Pty Ltd has the means to murder your soul, so they don't need to kill the flesh.

Cheers,

Glad

Hi RB...I believe you!...I was told once by some saved Filipinos that I had the gift of tongues in Tagalog, which is their native language, and it was interpreted word for word by a non Filipino who didn't know any Tagalog.  I've also heard of many instances similar to yours where languages were recognized.

I know what I received was, and still is a miracle to me.  I love praying in tongues...like Paul said, "my spirit prays".

Thanks. Yes i still believe its true too.
But just not the way the GRC teaches. I still can remember souls in my mind in that place calling on the Lord for YEARS! and not receiving the gift of tongues, only to be turned away. And then these the 100s who I really doubt have the real thing. But it can only be expected with a tongues base church.
I rarely do speak in tongues now. Its be real cool just getting to know the Lord for the first time like i never did in the GRC. I have English to speak to him with and he understands me, and God can speak to me through his word in English and I can understand him, and by this is all  I need.

I really have no time for tongues base churches. Its simple not the Gospel of Christ to say your whole salvation depends on it.  To say so, is to be a liar, and deceiver, but this is somthing a real die hard tongues pusher  will never see or understand or even wont to understand. sad. Its been so cool to have some fantastic teaches to help me with the "de-tox" from the GRC.

Ok, well this topic is on the end times, must say thers been great reading from different posters.
Fear Fear Fear, the main weopon of the GRC. End times taken out of context to control and manipulate the church the way N.H has done, is a real disgrace!

Cheers

you from the PHILLIPINS? i used to have family that lived there.

If they want to drink and hate the assembly they are in why not just leave. Just some funny links that were passed onto me recently referring the rapture stuff... it's a funny doctrine.

AFTER THE RAPTURE, life goes on

Advise your left-behind friends and family with an automatic email to be sent only after you've been taken to live with the Lord forever and ever. Please try not to rub it in too much, they'll feel bad enough already.
http://www.raptureletters.com/

The Rapture is in the Bible, right?   http://snipurl.com/tzml

Pray for the Rapture to be true with a Turbo Prayer Helmet?    http://www.xraylab.org/GodEar/prayer.htm

The Rapture is Immoral

So why is the Rapture believed at all then? Because it holds an attractive promise, and comes with a wonderful little perk.

Ask nearly any Rapture believer, and they will say that their prime motivation comes from the hope that the Rapture brings: that God loves His children so much that He wishes to spare them from the time of Tribulation. Yet He has not done so for millenia... Since the faith began, Christians have suffered and died for the good news of Jesus Christ. From the early Church enduring persecution by the Roman Empire in the first 3 centuries to the faithful in China and African still suffering death, rape, mutilation, enforced poverty, ethnic cleansing, and slavery today, Christians have always endured tribulation. Jesus Himself made no promises about anything except that we are to die in His name. "Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves; so be shrewd as serpents and innocent as doves. But beware of men, for they will hand you over to the courts and scourge you in their synagogues; and you will even be brought before governors and kings for My sake, as a testimony to them and to the Gentiles. But when they hand you over, do not worry about how or what you are to say; for it will be given you in that hour what you are to say. For it is not you who speak, but it is the Spirit of your Father who speaks in you." (Matthew 10:16-20) And again: "Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward in heaven is great; for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you." (Matthew 5:11-12) Jesus bids us to take up our crosses and follow Him. This is not merely a metaphor: at the time of Christ, there was a very real danger of being crucified.

Yet we here in the western world, the 1st World (and the first shall be last, remember), complain at the slightest inconvenience. When a single insult is hurled or special right taken away from the majority Christian population, cries of persecution are raised. Yet we do not know persecution. We cannot know persecution until armed soldiers burst into our houses, shoot father in the head, rape mother and sister, and haul brother off to slavery simply because we're Christians. Not only have we not endured the cross for His sake, we don't even know the meaning of doing so.

So again, what makes the conservative Evangelical proponents of the Rapture so special? Revelation 6:9-11 shows us a scene of the faithful in Heaven pettitioning the Lord: When the Lamb broke the fifth seal, I saw underneath the altar the souls of those who had been slain because of the word of God, and because of the testimony which they had maintained; and they cried out with a loud voice, saying, "How long, O Lord, holy and true, will You refrain from judging and avenging our blood on those who dwell on the earth?" And there was given to each of them a white robe; and they were told that they should rest for a little while longer, until the number of their fellow servants and their brethren who were to be killed even as they had been, would be completed also. Why does God not seem to give a damn until violence threatens rich Christians in the 1st World? Why does He see fit for the full number of non-whites to die for the faith, but spares us the time of trial? Shall not a greasy hair on the annointed heads of Baptists, Pentecostals, and non-denominationals be touched by strife or hardship or tirbulation or discomfort?

This doctrine of the Rapture should cause no end of moral outrage... Jesus calls us to follow Him, and we create a doctrine that says we won't have to. We live in comfortable excess on the backs of the poor, tired, and huddled masses around the world, and hope to be delivered the momment we're threatened with discomfort. As the old saying goes, we want to have our cake and eat it to: we don't want to live for Christ, and we don't want to die for Him either.

But it is easy enough for proponents to look beyond that, because the Rapture also gives yet another handy threat. "Don't be Left Behind!!" Truely, the Tribulation as imagined in such works as Left Behind is little more than the full measure of terrors and horrors that conservative Evangelicals wish on those different from themselves. Before the Rapture was invented, all they could threaten people with was eternal suffering in Hell. Now on top of that, we get unimaginable suffering in the Tribulation, where God will shower non-Evangelicals (as non-Evangelicals, even when Christian, don't tend to believe in the Rapture) with every form of pain, plague, poison, violence, destruction, and suffering they could ever hope. The Tribulation is the emotional shadow of Evangelicals: it is the expression and projection of their own darkest and evilest desires towards their fellow human being. It is the sweaty-palmed anticipation of God performing all the violence an Evangelical ever wished on anybody they didn't like. It is one more pious threat in the aparatus of violence and coercion used by Christian Fundamentalism.

Sacred Cow

Put it all together, and what have you got? A new Christian Sacred Cow: something held so deeply and vigorously that it becomes unquestionable. Dare to point out that Jesus didn't teach it, and you are accused of calling God a liar. Mention it's lack of historical background, and you are ignored. Preach the immorality of wanting to be Raptured out of martyrdom's way, and you are threatened with being "Left Behind"... At best, the hardcore Rapture proponent will simply mock you or brush you off. At worst, they will condemn you to Hell and even threaten your physical safety.

The Rapture doctrine has become a litmus test for "real" Christianity, even though it is not found in any of the Creeds which have served to define Christian orthodoxy for 1700 years - the Apostles', Nicene, and Athanasian Creeds. The dubious interpretation, the Americocentrism, the promise of not having to follow Christ to the grave, all become a part and parcel of this new heterodox "real" Christianity... It is unquestioned and unquestionable. It is a Sacred Cow that has supplanted following Jesus and living for the Kingdom of God. It has become an idol.

On these principles - Jesus didn't teach it, dubious Scriptural interpretation, ahistoricity, Americocentrism, immorality, and idolatry - I reject the teaching of the Rapture as, at best a simple error, at worst a pernicious and damaging heresy. Historically, the Christian affirmation has always been "Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again." There is no need to make it more elaborate than that. "He will come again to judge the living and the dead", the Nicene Creed states, and our only concern as Christians is to be ready by living a Christ-like life of love and the Kingdom within, every day of our lives. We needen't make complex doctrinal propositions about it, and we shouldn't devise schemes that legitimize our wealth and our fear of suffering, nor our hatred of others. For doing so, the Rapture simply isn't Christian.

And to those who are reading this who are seething at what I have said and chomping at the bit to threaten me with being Left Behind, I say this to you: I only wish I was even half worthy to endure the Tribulation. But alas, I am nothing compared to the great saints and martyrs of Christian history who have suffered and died for His sake... Saint Peter and Saint Paul, Archbishop Oscar Romero, Deitrich Bonhoeffer, the missionaries, Jesus Himself... I am unfit to be counted amongst their number. But if you wish to condemn me to join their ranks, and to suffer the terrors and evils of the Tribulation for His sake, then I am more than pleased to do so. I have no desire to spare myself such a glory.

Hollins would never ever use the word "Rapture" heaven forbid he would use a word that other churchs use! lol  but he did preach the lifting up to heaven in our new bodies. Never really remembering giving many talks on rapture type things. Most end time talks where based on fear type things like world war 3, n-bombs, jew-arabs,-   i remember a cracker word from T.A in geelong on the real threat the Australia could suffer from a anthrax attack, with him going into detail of the effects, real nice hey? not!

Is it just me or do some people do not know how to get along with their neighbours?  If I went through what many of them went through I'd be more humble and try to get along with those who's land I stole.  But some people think that a WW3 is a good thing. I'm not one of them As I mentioned before power corrupts. . Give a guy some land and a gun and he's going to use them to get more land.

WHOSE LAND?

"Facts" Versus "Myths" in the Arab-Israeli Conflict

Adapted "From Time Immemorial" by Joan Peters

Other sources by Alan Lazerte, B.A., LL.B, Canadian Friends of the International Christian Embassy in Jerusalem

Myths: False Premises

1) The "Palestinians" have had a continuous identity with the land.

2) That identity has been present for "thousands of years".

3) The alien Jews "returned after 200 years, in 1948, to displace the "Palestinian Arabs" in the "new" Jewish state.

4) The Arabs were there first; it was Arab land.

5) The Jews 'stole" the Arab land.

6) The Jewish "terrorists" forced the peaceable Arabs to flee from "Palestine".

7) Palestine is Israel; and all Israel constitutes Palestine. "In 1948 Palestine became Israel".

8) Only Jews immigrated into Palestine; whereas Arabs were natives for millennia.

9) There are no places for the homeless Palestinian "refugees" to go.

10) Jews and Arabs lived together in equality and peace in Arab lands, before Israel became a state.

11) Arab "Palestinians", like other Arabs, have "nothing against Jews... just against Zionists".

Facts: The Reality

A) Palestine is only the description given to a geographical area; which has not been a nation since Israel was conquered by Rome in 70 A.D.

B) The Turks had this area from 1517 to 1917, and made it a wasteland, causing the peasants to flee... wandering all over the Middle East seeking subsistence.

C) Even after the Roman defeat in 70 A.D. the Jews (with their Zionist dream) never vacated the Holy Land.

D) The area known as Palestine covered areas both East and West of the Jordan; and the Arabic-speaking people there thought of themselves as Syrians, Turks, or simply "Arabs"... but never as "Palestinians".

E) The Arabs did not begin to think in terms of "nationalism" until early in the 1900's. Even T.E. Lawrence was not able to inject them with "nationalism" as late as World War I.

F) Islamic religious prejudice often resulted in anti-Jewish violence, throughout the Middle East, even before Israel became a state in 1948.

G) The British later described these religious persecutions as being "Arab Nationalism", so as to justify limiting Jewish immigration from Europe.

H) The British illegally "gave" Mandate lands (specifically allocated for a Jewish national home) to the Arabs instead.

I) The Arab peasants had been rendered landless by their own Arab landlords, natural disasters, excessive taxes, and Arab money lenders.

J) In 1923 Britain illegally gave Abdulah 77 percent of Palestine (the whole "East Bank") to protect rights to Arab oil, and the Suez canal, etc. for purposes of the British Empire. This created Transjordan; which became Jordan in 1946.

K) Thus, Jordan is the "independent Palestinian state" in the area; and was carved out of what was to become Israel.

L) In 1947 the UN further carved up the 23 percent west of the Jordan, into Israel, another Palestinian state (which the Arabs rejected) and an internationalized Jerusalem.

M) The Jews accepted the UN proposal; the Arabs did not.

N) The UN has changed the definition of "Refugee" for the Arabs only; who therefore need only be in the land two years to qualify.

O) The homelands to which many Arabs fled in 1948 and 1967 include lands from which many of them had recently come.

P) It is their own Arab-Muslim leaders who are preventing Arab refugees in Israel from "returning home". They are sacrificing Arab refugees to put pressure on the UN and Israel for another "Palestinian state".

Q) Of all the adjacent Arab states, only Jordan would grant citizenship to Arabs fleeing Israel. All other Arab states refused to grant Arabs citizenship.

R) Since the state of Israel (even including the "West Bank" and "Gaza strip") would total only 23 percent of Palestine (as defined by the League of nations in granting the British Mandate) how can Arabs be said to have been excluded from a Palestinian homeland?

S) Some elements of Islam are terrorizing and intimidating the world into combined action against Israel; the real intention being to destroy both Israel and Lebanon, so Islam can consolidate the Middle East before launching out to "take the world for Allah".

What Does Israel Want?
It isn't just Lebanon...
by Justin Raimondo

Is anyone really surprised that Israel violated the cease-fire? Here, after all, is a nation that has defied the United Nations on 321 different occasions, refused to sign the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty, and proudly proclaims its own lawlessness. Only a fool, or a masochist, would count on Tel Aviv to keep its agreements. Apart from that, however, this latest raid underscores the real objective of what the American media insists on calling the Israeli "incursion" (never "invasion") into Lebanon: it's all about Syria and Iran.

The Israelis justified the raid on the grounds that:

"The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) and the Lebanese army were not showing any intention to end the rearmament of Hezbollah, since the former was unwilling to confront the 'terrorist organization.' Thus, Israel had no choice but to act itself to stop the flow of weapons and missiles to the Shiite group, the official added."

This means the Israelis will continue striking at any targets, especially along the border with Syria, that they deem necessary to stop the "rearmament" of Hezbollah. But of course, Hezbollah is already very well armed, as the Israelis discovered to their sorrow and surprise, and their arms are hardly exhausted. This is yet another pretext, just like the kidnapping of the two Israeli soldiers, for continued aggression against Lebanon - and a means for the government of Prime Minister Ehud Olmert to avoid or at least ameliorate the political consequences of its abortive military campaign. It has more to do with the political situation in Israel than the military situation on the ground in Lebanon. As the Los Angeles Times reported, the real objective of the Israeli raid may not have been interdicting arms at all:

"At least one independent analyst expressed skepticism of Israel's claim that the raid was intended to intercept arms supplies. Arthur Hughes, former director-general of the Egypt-Israel Multinational Force and Observers, said the operation was so risky - both for the Israeli soldiers and the country's international standing - that he found the government's official explanation implausible. 'I would guess there was something of high value they were trying to accomplish,' Hughes said, suggesting that a rescue mission for the captive Israeli soldiers was more likely."

If the two Israeli soldiers could be rescued, then so could Olmert's government - but it is more than just internal Israeli politics that is driving the IDF. As I pointed out last week, we were warned by Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni, who admitted "The war isn't over yet." Indeed, if the Israelis have their way, it has barely begun: they are now shifting their focus to a full-fledged effort to embroil Damascus in the conflict, and I wouldn't rule out air strikes on Syrian territory before all this is over.

Lebanon is just a pawn in the game: Israel's real objective is toppling Bashar al-Assad and militarily confronting the Iranian mullahs - using U.S. troops, of course. The resulting incredibly destructive regional war will see not a few of their old enemies tossed in history's dustbin.

Israel's partisans in the U.S. have, in some instances, been quite open about this objective: Michael Ledeen's infamous taste for "creative destruction" is vivid evidence of the neocons' nihilism. But this is nihilism with a purpose: out of all that death and destruction will come a new world, the vaunted "transformation" of the region that was supposed to lead to democratic societies in nations that had never known any such thing. But, as it turns out, democracy has nothing to do with it: it's all about destabilizing the region to pursue an Israeli agenda. That agenda is the breakup and atomization of the Arab-Muslim world, so that it is little more than a collection of splinters. Lebanon is only the first phase of this campaign, and the Israelis are pushing ahead no matter what Washington thinks.

That is really the big question: is the U.S. going to go along with this crazed Israeli campaign? So far, George W. Bush has gone along for the ride. However, the distance between American and Israeli interests - never as aligned as the two governments averred in public - is fast becoming apparent, and it is only a matter of time before there is a public split.

I would qualify that, however, by adding that the prospects of a coming split are based on the assumption that the White House is putting American interests first, or is even concerned in the least with pursuing them. In the case of this White House, however, that may be assuming far too much.

There is no doubt that the U.S. put pressure on Israel to bring the "incursion" to a swift conclusion, but that wasn't the White House talking. The direction and control of U.S. foreign policy is the object of much internal contention and is shaped by this internecine struggle rather than any central authority.

To be sure, a pro-American faction in U.S. policymaking circles exists but, so far, has been relatively powerless to exert any significant influence: only when U.S. policy seems to go off the rails does it reassert itself. This impulse resulted in the U.S./French effort to engineer a cease-fire, but, as we have seen, the Israelis can violate this and face no immediately discernible consequences.

Condoleezza Rice went to Israel to try to cobble together a cease-fire and was undercut by the IDF's murderous assault on Qana. Condi was reportedly furious, but hers was an impotent rage. The Israelis delight in giving the finger to foreigners who would limit the scope of their actions, and especially, one suspects, to the Americans, whose largess makes the Israeli state possible. Every form of dependency breeds resentment, and in this case it is bound to come to a head in a very public way - given a U.S. commitment to its own interests, that is. But don't expect that from this White House:

"In Washington, the White House declined to criticize the raid, noting that Israel said it had acted in reaction to arms smuggling into Lebanon and that the UN resolution called for the prevention of resupplying Hezbollah with weapons. 'The incident underscores the importance of quickly deploying the enhanced UNIFIL,' a White House spokeswoman, Jeanie Mamo, said, referring to a force of 15,000 UN peacekeeping troops called for by the cease-fire agreement to police the truce."

With 130,000 American troops in the midst of a Shi'ite sea in Iraq, with the entire Arab-Muslim world turning against the U.S. on account of our countenancing the rape of Lebanon, with our supply of vital oil and gas supplies endangered by the outbreak of a regional war and our military at the breaking point - in spite of all this, the president of the United States forges ahead with this mad plan to "transform" the Middle East. It's an outrage, an act of treachery, and, yes, treason on a scale never before seen.

For years, we've been telling our readers that American foreign policy has been hijacked, and here we have the confirmation. The invasion of Iraq, the campaign of threats and provocations directed at Iran, and the destruction of Lebanon have all served the interests of a single country, and that country is not the United States of America. In the most successful covert action in history, Israel's amen corner in the U.S. has essentially seized effective control of the American giant, and is now riding the dumb elephant for all he's worth through the rubble of the Middle East.

The Israeli raid has showed how powerless the UN and the U.S. are against not Hezbollah, but Tel Aviv. As Maj. Gen. William L. Nash, a senior fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations, put it to the New York Times:

"We know what they're not going to do, but what will they do. They're not going to disarm Hezbollah. But are they going to stop Israel from re-attacking Hezbollah? If the Israeli government decides there is an imminent threat, and attacks with F-16s, what is the mandate for the UN? What does the UN do?"

There is only one power on earth that can restrain the Israelis, and that is Israel's American sponsors and financiers. But I wouldn't bet the ranch on that happening, as long as George W. Bush - or his Democratic equivalents - reside in the White House. What we have to look forward to, in short, is perpetual war in the Middle East, for as far as the eye can see - unless a miracle occurs and we can reclaim U.S. foreign policy for American interests.

"is anyone really surprised that Israel violated the cease-fire?"

How can you have a cease fire when your got a bunch of Mad Arabs on your door step wonting to blow your country off the face of the map?

"This means the Israelis will continue striking at any targets, especially along the border with Syria, that they deem necessary to stop the "rearmament" of Hezbollah. "

Yes and good on them. They have a right to do so. Just like you would have the right if some near where you lived had a rocket launcher aimed at your wife and kids.
