Re:(Animated) Pastor Lloyd Wrongfield on talk show Date Posted:10/09/2010 1:27 PMCopy HTML One Mari Swindley from an ex-RF Facebook site was quite offended by my animated 'thing' and had this to say:
Mari Swindley I joined this group thinking it was just as it said, but I don't particularly enjoy these pot-shots via the animated things. I only saw a bit of one & I think it's a bit bad-taste. Sure they got a lot wrong, but I still have them to thank that I ever came to Christ at all, so this is my last comment & I'm no longer going to be a part of this. Not that she actually made 'any' comment before this one to give any weight to this being her 'last' comment... Now I understand that that particular video has some offensive language, but it 'is' parody and the 'sex sin' stand of Lloyd's Revivalism was being highlighted. My question is, should the Revival Centres be given respect just because that's where you were introduced to the concept of Christ? Should any reverence be given to them because of this happenstance? I don't think so. Would the JWs be credited if that's where you developed a love for a higher power? The god of these churches is far removed from the god described in the bible anyway, isn't it? Nope, Revival gets no free ticket for selling false gods. Instagram and Twitter: @mothpete

Re:(Animated) Pastor Lloyd Wrongfield on talk show Date Posted:11/09/2010 12:30 AMCopy HTML Moth,
your animation series is hilarious. Spent an enjoyable time gathered around the computer screen with friends, laughing our heads off. Watched all of them and we were amazed at how perfectly you nailed EVERYTHING. If current GRCers and Revivalists watch and don't see the ridiculousness of their Group's doctrine and beliefs, then they are 'brain dead'. After all the years I have been out, I must admit, I did get the guilts in a couple of places and had a quick glance over my shoulder to make sure that Satan wasn't sitting there watching and waiting.............. When we had watched them all, I felt liberated!! Seeing them as cartoon characters certainly takes away the veneer of them being authoritative, knowledgeable, educated men worthy of our unquestioning loyalty and admiration. The one word that rang out in my mind as I was watching was 'GOOSE'-----now where have I heard that before??? Glad "Faith is not about everything turning out OK; Faith is about being OK no matter how things turn out."

Re:(Animated) Pastor Lloyd Wrongfield on talk show Date Posted:11/09/2010 1:25 AMCopy HTML Good morning, Pete.
So Mari apparently believes that parodying the most ridiculous aspects of Revivalism is in bad taste? I do wonder, then, how she'd respond if advised that Revivalism as a religious system knows nothing of the biblical Christ? Further, that Revivalism is actually anti-Christian rather than simply being sub-Christian? If people like Mari knew their Bibles better, and understood the implications of biblical theology, then there would be fewer people sharing Mari's opinions! As the preface to a very good book puts things: "the only 'heresy' that isn't tolerated nowadays is orthodoxy" Blessings, Ian email: didaktikon@gmail.com

Seeing them as cartoon characters certainly takes away the veneer
of them being authoritative, knowledgeable, educated men worthy of our
unquestioning loyalty and admiration. Authoritative?! Knowledgeable?! Educated?! Three adjectives that I would never use to describe any Revivalist "pastor"! Still, the very first thing that you said, you got perfectly correct: they are cartoon characters Blessings, Ian email: didaktikon@gmail.com

Oh come now Mari lighten up a bit. The annimations are quite mild and cleverly done, making good use of Revival idiocyncrasies. Where pot-shots are concerned the Revival Churches have had it all on their own for many a long year ripping into other churches (cast the mind back to camp skits) so they, whether current Revivalists or sensitive ex Revivalists, shouldn't take umbrage at a little bit given back at the expense of Revival Churches this time. I can recall every opportunity being taken to poke fun at other churches in talks, skits and in general conversation among members. Then there were the whole talks targeting the Catholics, sometimes broken up into parts one and two at second meetings on consecutive Sundays...with handouts. It was pretty full on against; Mystery Babylon the great, the mother of harlots, daughters being the protestant churches, the woman in purple and scarlet with the golden cup of abominations and fornications, tempting Kings of the earth to imbibe in her fornications etc, which all equalled the Catholic Church. It was no wonder whenever the word harlot or whore came up it wasn't the dictionary meaning that came to mind. What Moth has captured in the annimations is a Revival flavour which holds for me somewhat of a fascination and for some weird reason I want to remember it in its oddity. After all it surrounded my life for quite a few years. I wondered how Moth was going to tackle the annimated gifts, being for Revivalists a sacred ritual...whoops no...sacred tradition...no no not tradition.....sacred communication through and to the church, but it also was very well done. Carry on regardless Moth, keep them coming. Epi |

Don't forget that we were 'brainwashed' little puppies at the time. I held Noel in the highest regard for all the years I was 'in' and for a few while I was 'out'. Now I regard him as an uneducated, ignorant, manipulative, soul destroying, spiritually abusive 'GOOSE'. Glad .....right back at you !!!!!!! Re:(Animated) Pastor Lloyd Wrongfield on talk show Date Posted:11/09/2010 11:29 AMCopy HTML It may have been ugly, but it definitely was funny.
I'm not sure what he means by fixing the problem though. You can't 'fix' it, but you can make people aware of it. Wendell sounds like a bit of a tosser, but I agree with Trent, the reactions from Revival members would be interesting considering these reactions from ex-members. I'm not using 'kid' gloves with these guys because they seem to be fooling themselves and others that they're a 'nice' harmless little Christian church. They're not. The coffee and cakes and Saturday night hall dinner parties aren't hiding the fact that this is a life sucking sect parading as a Christian church. Wake up and smell the coffee, eh? Educated - wtf??? half of them could barely read, certainly not to a level able to interpret something as wordy as the KJV. I couldn't hold a sensible conversation with 90% of them. I always thought they were arrogant little tin gods who could never be taken seriously in the real world, so they got their power jollies pushing us around. I suspect that the fact I told them that, continually, was what got me put out :) |

Re:(Animated) Pastor Lloyd Wrongfield on talk show Date Posted:12/09/2010 7:06 AMCopy HTML Guest--I take that you weren't in the GRC.
You would only need to tell them once, that they were' arrogant little tin gods' to get yourself 'put out'. If you look up the word 'veneer' ---"merely an outward show" is one of the definitions. (the one I meant) 'authority'---'the power to enforce obedience'....they HAD that...look up the rest of the definitions of 'authority' NHH had/has it. They are given the 'authority', because of their abusive, manipulative natures and the way they subtly inflict all manner of abuse on their followers. . 'knowledge'-----if you profess to have knowledge about something and your followers are ignorant of the matter (in this/my case) the Bible and its interpretation, then NHH comes across as 'knowledgeable'. I will give you educated, that was a bit over the top. I must have been 'on a roll'. If you can be confident and say something with conviction, then you can fool people. Just look at the the past 3 weeks in Australian politics. I WAS speaking specifically about NHH, obviously I need to be more specific, next time. I realise that I put my comment in the Lloyd Wrongfield section and I have no 'knowledge' of his ways. (apart from those that seem to have been absorbed by NHH) Glad "Faith is not about everything turning out OK; Faith is about being OK no matter how things turn out."
