Sunday Morning.........My partner has gone off to the RF 'meeting' where I used to go until several years ago. A time I look forward to. A time of quiet enjoyment of things that make me happy, free from the pressures of business, parenthood, phones ringing, of obligation whatsoever...A time for meditation, reading or whatever I damn well feel like doing! I put on a few CD's. One of my all time favourite artists, Van Morrison. A track comes on where John Lee Hooker joins Van, a cruisy blues number..... 'Wasted years' they sing. The song strikes a few chords. Here are the lyrics............Wasted Years LyricsArtist(Band):Van MorrisonWasted Years LyricsWasted years been brainwashed by liesOh yes I haveOh wasted yearsI'm talking about wasted yearsOh I'm not seeing eye-to-eyeI just can't see the things I should seeWasted years, babyI was taking the wrong adviceI know you was, I know you wasAnd I was tooAll alone I'm travellingTravelling through these wasted yearsFor so long, so long, so long I wasOh, I must have gained some wisdomDown through the years I didSomewhere along the wayOh yes, I did, oh yes I didThet's why there can't be no moreNo moreNo more wasted years todayI got wise, I got wise to myselfWell baby the great sadnessOh, you've got to let it all goOh yeah, oh yeah VanLive in the presentLive in the future John Lee, ain't that soOh, it's a sad feeling, oh yeahOh, you've gotta find somethingTo carry you through, carry you through, carry you throughI've learned my lessonI ain't gonna do it no more, yeahNow VanNow JohnI've learned my lessonI should have a long time agoThat's rightAll these wasted years, wasted yearsI finally woke up and got wiseI ain't gonna be, ain't gonna be no fool no moreNow Van, now VanAin't gonna be nobody's body's fool no moreSing the song Van, sing it with meWell all alone, all alone I've been travellingYeahTravelling all along through these wasted yearsDark, dark wasted yearsSo dark hereDark, dark, dark, dark wasted yearsI must have gained somethingYeahOh travelling along the lonely wayYeah, I've learned a lessonI'm gonna make damn sure baby, make damn sure.Thought I'd share my morning with you all!Life's good after all!the Dog.

Whilst I'm in this frame of mind, I was reminded of another wonderful song that was like an anthem to me at the time when I removed myself from the assembly's stronghold............

This song is written and performed by a beautiful free-spirited young lady, and her voice was like a beacon at that time, giving me strength and courage, and hearing it always reminds me of that time. It's best listened to, to feel the qualities of the song, but the words that echo in my mind are....

Lend your voices only to sounds of freedom
No longer lend you strength to that which you wish to be free from
Fill your lives with love and bravery
And you shall lead a life uncommon
I've heard your anguish
I've heard your hearts cry out
We are tired, we are weary, but we aren't worn out
set down your chains, until only faith remains
Set down your chains
And lend your voices only to sounds of freedom
No longer lend your strength to that
which you wish to be free from
Fill you lives with love and bravery
And we shall lead a life uncommon

The artist is Jewel.
The song is 'life uncommon'.

Such majestic words of wisdom come from many sources in life. It is SO SAD that the likes of revivalists wish to discount any wisdom unless it happens to be from the pages of the Bible.

Loved the words to those songs!

Made me think of a few words in a song too that I think we could ALL relate too after being through our personal tough times in the fellowship!

'Cause it makes me that much stronger
Makes me work a little bit harder
It makes me that much wiser
So thanks for making me a fighter
Made me learn a little bit faster
Made my skin a little bit thicker
Makes me that much smarter
So thanks for making me a fighter.

AthenaMarina

I'm too sexy for your creed/

Too sexy for your church/

So sexy that it hurts! And I'm/

Too sexy for your God!

Too sexy for your lord!/

Too sexy for "The Word"/

So I don't read it/

I'm too sexy for your pews/

For the king of the Jews/

He is just fiction! and I'm/

Too sexy for your prayers/

Fake smiles & crocodile tears/

Too sexy for your youth groups!/

CHORUS:

I'm a heathen/ Yes that's what I am/

And I rest my sleepy head on Sunday morning/

On Sunday morning/ And I'm/

Too sexy for your guys/

Too sexy for your lies/

They're so outrageous! And I'm/

Too sexy for your guilt/

Religious jail you've built/

What a time waster!/ And I'm/

Too sexy for the cross/

To have another boss/

But my free spirit/

CHORUS:

I'm a heathen/ Yes that's what I am/

And I rest my sleepy head on Sunday morning/

On Sunday morning/ And I'm/

Too sexy for your hats/

Fashion tips from your old bats/

They are so sexist/ And I'm/

Too sexy for your preachers/

Boring Sunday morning speakers/

So full of bullshit/

And I'm/

Too sexy for your songs! /
