Re:Some good quotes... Date Posted:16/08/2010 11:52 PMCopy HTML Reply to Te Luo Yi "Men tend to have the beliefs that suit their passions. Cruel men believe in a cruel God and use their belief to excuse their cruelty. Only kindly men believe in a kindly God, and they would be kindly in any case." Too true. Certianly has been my experience in life. Cruel people love their cruelty and will not even let the words of christ wrest it from them, which is why the kind ones should make sure they NEVER get into positions of power. Sadly though, that is EXACTLY what their cruelty gets them in this strange world in which we live. |

Re:Some good quotes... Date Posted:18/08/2010 1:00 PMCopy HTML "If a god is trying to get his message across to the masses of humanity, why did he do it in such a way that the only people qualified to grasp its true significance are those with doctorates in biblical studies? And then, how do we know which authorities to believe? What the bible means in plain English is what most people read. If it embarrasses itself in plain English, then it fails to make its point."

Re:Some good quotes... Date Posted:19/08/2010 11:02 AMCopy HTML Reply to Didaktikon Troy, Clearly you place far more faith in Dan Barker than the facts appear to warrant. I mean let's face it, Barker was a fringe dweller even among the Pentecostals, and his "claim to fame" was producing music, not theology I love the subtitle of Godless: "How an Evangelical Preacher Became One of America's Leading Atheists". God help the atheists, then! Ian That's big news.. Dr. Thomason I presume... |

Re:Some good quotes... Date Posted:30/11/2010 10:58 PMCopy HTML When does 2 plus 2 not equal 4? The standard answer to that question is "when 1 plus 1 does not equal 2". Logically speaking this answer is sound because when the condition (1+1=2) fails, the consequence (2+2=4) does not need to be true. Therefore if you're foundation is wrong and you're unsuccessfully adding 1 and 1 to make 2, then 2 + 2 will NOT equal 4.
It also depends on the context doesn't it? 2 with the addition of the digit two can be 22 Instagram and Twitter: @mothpete

Re:Some good quotes... Date Posted:01/12/2010 1:02 AMCopy HTML Guest, 2 + 2 = 4 is this statement true or not? As Pete has pointed out, 'it depends'. Does '2 + 2' refer to the the 'natural' number '2', or to something else? If it refers to the 'natural' number, do we philosophically accept the axiom that such numbers have intrinsic value and meaning? Or is such extrinsically apportioned (e.g. the famous example from George Orwell's classic, 'Nineteen Eighty Four', where '2 + 2 = 5')? Are you into mathematical or set theory proofs? Or have you another, follow-up question that you're 'itching' to ask? Blessings, Ian email: didaktikon@gmail.com

Re:Some good quotes... Date Posted:10/02/2011 11:35 PMCopy HTML "I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ” "If Christians would really live according to the teachings of Christ, as found in the bible, all of India would be Christians today.”
"If Christ were here now there is one thing he would not be-a Christian.” "God has no religion” Those who say religion has nothing to do with politics do not know what religion is”
In his autobiography, wrote that during his student days he read the Gospels seriously and considered converting to Christianity. He believed that in the teachings of Jesus he could find the solution to the caste system that was dividing the people of India. So one Sunday he decided to attend services at a nearby church and talk to the minister about becoming a Christian. When he entered the sanctuary, however, the usher refused to give him a seat and suggested that he go worship with his own people. left the church and never returned. “If Christians have caste differences also,” he said, “I might as well remain a Hindu.” That usher’s prejudice not only betrayed Jesus but also turned a person away from trusting Him as Savior. |

Re:Some good quotes... Date Posted:11/02/2011 3:37 AMCopy HTML Quite clearly the main point eludes you. To me it is quite obvious. But then the Lord does tend to blind the mind of fools to his truth.

Re:Some good quotes... Date Posted:09/03/2011 10:02 PMCopy HTML When faced with a truth too horrific to accept, many will surrender all volition to some greater power, expecting
to be saved by divine intervention. This is, in my opinion, the most
total and unforgivable display of apathy possible. There is no god to
save you from your own careless hand.
Complacency and denial lead only to enslavement. Clinging to petty, superficial, fabricated differences enables the true enemy to easily divide and conquer. It is worse than useless to pretend that all will return to normal if only we will keep on with business as usual. "Normal" is the problem, not the solution. All the wrong that has been sown for centuries is now ripened and a harvest of death is at hand. The end is near or not but the future sure the hell is not going to be like the past. Save yourself for god only knows he's to busy to save us all. |
