Date Posted:29/06/2010 9:00 AMCopy HTML I advice all ex-members write about their abusive experiences in the church to address the issue of [spiritual] abuse by the Revival Fellowship to bring them to justice. requesting advice from the Australian Law Reform Commission on how cult victims may be allowed to obtain legal and financial redress for psychological abuse. I am asking you to contact Senator Boyce. Currently, people who experience psychological abuse, mental disorders and breakdowns as a result of coercive persuasion and mind control have no legal avenues to pursue and their abusers are never brought to account. This must be changed. Cult survivor, Helen Pomery, has written several times to every Australian politician and senator and, until now, received very little encouragement or support. According to Mrs Pomery, the most common excuse given for inaction is that politicians cannot interfere with "freedom of religion". But, as she rightly points out - this is about abuse, not religion, and cult victims do not knowingly choose to join a cult. Mrs Pomery has also been told that the separation of church and state must be respected. As you well know, this is no excuse not to act on this issue. Attorney-General (Vic) (Ex rel Black) v Commonwealth (the DOGS case) (1981) 146 CLR 559 found that Section 116 of the Constitution did not provide a wall of separation between church and state in Australia, and although politicians give lip service to the concept, it is routinely breached in a variety of ways. The Australian public is becoming increasingly aware of the abuse of Australian citizens lured into, or born into religious (and non-religious) cults. It is time that the government acted to stop this psychological abuse and provide cult survivors with legal and financial redress against their abusers. If you attribute all your problems in life to God, and everything what you achieve in life to prayers, then you deprive yourself of a merit and deny yourself a chance of finding true causes of your problems and improving your present life and lives of the people around you.

Re:Senator Boyce is requesting advice from the Australian Law Reform Date Posted:25/09/2010 7:07 AMCopy HTML Hello My Name is Kay For nearly 12 Years now, along with a few people who have tried to follow throughand expose publicly a man who was in charge of youth camps in Canberra and the Southern Region. The rape crisis centre here in Canberra {Ruth Kristie} dealt with the original complaint along with the Queanbean Police. The short version is the senior Pastor here in Canberra {BOB Beverly} refused to do anything about it,( I believe he is retiring to Vanuatu, the girls father was reluctant to follow it through in the courts, other people came forward and said it had happened to them. Bravehearts need a victim to stand up , but have given me avenues to pursue over the years. I believe the No. of victims of this man to be huge, the earlieat complaint goes back 30 years made to the then senior pastor John Kirwood, nothing was done , or even believed. Ll it seems we can do at this stage is to point out the potential danger. the control manipulative threats that occured at the time of his being caught in a 12 year olds bedroom were outragious, his targets were children from single parent familys or as in the case of the girl who went to the rape crisis centre the mother was suffering a mental illness , this was used against her. My Concern is at this time I have Heard the Man Cor Schmit has not long buried his wife, so he will now be a poor little old man invited into homes ,because he is alone, indeed it was said to me there were 500 people there at the funeral in the Tumut Wagga area, the woman worked tirlessly for a hospital I am told, I actually believe the poor woman was working off guilt, she would have known he was guilty, indeed I believe he Brags that he met her when she was i3, how long has he been getting away with, away with this, and can he still be allowed to be a threat, and nothing done. The damage done by this organisation is never ending cases of young women having trips to Perth for Naltraxone treatment due to drugs used because of abuse comes to mind. , But I shall leave this for now and hope for some response. Yours faithfully K.L.McCusker |

Re:Senator Boyce is requesting advice from the Australian Law Reform Date Posted:25/09/2010 11:34 PMCopy HTML Hello, Kay.
If what you claim is true, then you should definitely pursue the matter through the appropriate channels (this not being such a channel). If there is evidence to support what you've claimed, then the police will no doubt investigate through to prosecution. However, you should be more circumspect in future; naming individuals and making allegations of sexual abuse or neglect against them on a public forum such as this, potentially places you in a difficult legal situation. Re:Senator Boyce is requesting advice from the Australian Law Reform Date Posted:02/04/2011 11:02 AMCopy HTML Hello Ian (or maureen in disguise0
To answer you belatedly Ian, yes a formal complaint was made to the rape crisis centre and to the queanbeyan police, but as it is usually the powerless vulnerable people who are preyed upon , sole parents who are looking for a safe place to give their children a social life,or a schizophrenic mother in the case in question ,this was used in a very threatening manner to keep it quiet and who believes these people anyway Huh? If that was concern for me you were voicing ,then thank you ,but I am not afraid of legal action, they have no desire for publicity. And I would welcome the chance to expose them. I haven't any money, so I guess I would do a stint in the slammer but I do know that it would bring a lot of people forward who have lost loved ones ,because of the harshness of this organisation. I had felt qite sick to the stomach having just discovered the perpetrator had just lost his wife and was now to be invited into more homes. when I hastily dashed of that last post If you are unaware of some of grooming methods of these guys, I recommend an E book on "Breakthrough options" called "Webs Of Deceit" by kate Reid, came a little late for this case, but wisdom for young parents of today Cheers and blessing to you Kay |
