Re:Revival Wally gives his 3 minute testimony (animated) Date Posted:11/09/2010 11:58 PMCopy HTML Moth: I can certainly.....commend you on the clever use of Revival lingo
in your animations. Wally's brought out a lot of those funny little
Revivalisms common to those giving testamony. I thought the three minute
alarm was so funny. They used to stipulate short and sharp and no
longer than three minutes. Looking at the pastor's face and the restless
shifting from one foot t'other if the testamony went overtime was
humerous. When a testamony went on a bit and was a good one with a
captive audience the pastor's face was even funnier, after all no-one
and I mean no-one must ever outshine the pastor. Before I left someone
was puzzling over why people give wonderful testamonies, are used in
interpretation one week and are gone the next. Perhaps Wally's closing
comments weren't far from the truth. Epi

Re:Revival Wally gives his 3 minute testimony (animated) Date Posted:12/09/2010 12:00 AMCopy HTML Heck, I can remember some people who were notorious at giving eight
minute testimonies, and then there was an inward grown from everyone
because we had less time to sing our precious ditties... or a sigh of
relief that we sang less of them.
Testimonies were tedious affairs. In an average hall of a hundred odd people (and I do mean 'odd') we had to cycle through them and the repetition of the same stories was just awful. We'd be desperate for visitors from other assemblies to 'share' their testimony just so we didn't have to sit through one of our own again. Remember we did the same thing at house meetings too. Our unity (conformity) kept all our testimonies pretty similar, and we even had a special meeting every now and again to go over the 'rules' for giving testimonies. 1. Avoid using 'jargon' that the 'wordlies' won't understand. 2. Three minutes please. 3. Avoid the obvious miracles that sound like 'coincidences'... etc. Instagram and Twitter: @mothpete
