If anyone has rejected Christianity or has genuine questions about the validity of the entire religion then I would be very happy to discuss that here.

I have come to a place of unbelief myself, after having been very involved in the RCI then AOG and Churches of Christ for years and years.

I have a somewhat condensed version of my story here if you wanna know where I am coming from.

I don't know if any unbelievers are left on this board, seeing as it seems to be dominated by some pretty hardcore believers these days, but I'll give it a go and see what comes of it.

Well, hang on there prezy.

Perhaps you didn't see what came before this thread.  I'd ask you to peruse this entire thread here but pay careful attention to the posts stamped between (Date Posted:25/02/2010 14:40) and (Date Posted:26/02/2010 08:24). You should be able to see what got me somewhat upset.  The inference was quite clear.

I was hardly reacting to anyone because I opposed their religious point of view. I was being insulted and so gave it right back.

I am an unbeliever, is that a word? anyway... I hardly ever post any more, engaging in discussion with Ian et al is futile,  christians dont have to think for themselves they have an antiquated set of moral guidelines in the form of a leather bound mind removal device to refer back to. If you want their opinion you can just read it in their dusty old constitution.

Tommo,

This is where people have it all wrong. The Bible is not an “instruction book” on how to live or an “antiquated set of moral guidelines” that each has to follow as such; It is the story of God.

Very briefly; Man follows a path he himself chooses to take. The bible plot shows us that God from the beginning created the heavens and the earth, he set man in it to enjoy the things freely given but of his own choosing man decided to go his own way and as a result “screws” everything up for himself. God immediately puts into action his plan to redeem mankind from the mistake man made and through the offering of his only begotten Son, made the way clear for him to be able to come back into the presence of the living God to enjoy life and live forever. Just to be clear, it is all about God, not us. The end shows the triumph of good over evil and God’s victory over things deemed impossible.

Yes there are conditions placed on us. Those that choose to believe and live in faith in Jesus Christ will have their reward, those that don’t, will get theirs also.

The bible is not to taken or worked out scientifically, because it wasn’t written as such, but when one studies and  reads in the context the author/s meant it to be, then it is quite clear and understandable to comprehend. It is not a question of NOT thinking for oneself.

Ralph.

(These are my thoughts and I didn’t “plagiarize”)

Just when the dust has settled from the removal/departure of Galien from this forum, along comes her male equivalent. Troy.

It is all to shock Ian, who having been in the army for yonks, would of course be shocked at hearing gutter speak. Sure! Have you been saving all this up for a big huff and puff? How immature and puerile of you Troy. You remind me of a hyena trying to mark territory. It will take a lot more than your schoolyard bully antics to shift Ian methinks.

You are ex Revival and yet somehow the vestiges of the cockiness and mindless arrogance remain. You can't play anymore, so you have to destroy the other kids' new and nicer toys, protesting that you don't like them anyway, and wouldn't want them, even if you could.

There are some races that are puzzled as to why some English speakers choose sexual anatomy and acts, to express their feelings. Have you ever stopped and pondered why you choose a base form of communication? Lack of self respect? Lack of education? Lack of intellect?

John

My turn to be puerile...

I must say that there are five words one would not normally associate with one another:

Master's Degree    Journalism     University     Queensland

What a conundrum! One could write a whole stand up comedy routine with just those five words!

"Man screwed it up", I thought Man was beguiled by a talking snake... yeah that sounds plausible and not at all crazy!

So you deny that your moral compass is dictated to by your belief that the bible is the infallible word of God.

Really?  gee whiz.  And here I was being all impressed that UQ rates within the top 50 universities in the world. Silly me.

What school would you recommend for a MJour then?  City Bible College?  Dallas Theological College? After all, Jesus IS the answer right?

Perhaps I could go there and then get a job writing for On Being or Christianity Today or maybe work for TBN or the 700 Club?

Silly you indeed! Ever learning yet unable to come to the knowledge of the truth!

I just saw your touting of your "qualifications" as more hyena spraying.

So far I've seen no examples of high journalism on your part, unless you meant to impress by your quotations from the UQ toilet walls.

*SIGH*  More Bible quotations. Is this how I was when I was a religious nut?  I guess so.  :(

I'd be happy to steer you towards some of my published writing. Let me know when you run out of dunny paper and I'll send them on over.

OK, so the Ex-Christian chatroom is now officially an Ian Free Zone.

I am also going to lock this thread and let it stand as is.

From this point forward there will be no personal attacks or insults (yes, that goes for me too!).  Religious preaching and judgements of impending doom for non-adherents will not be tolerated in here either.Offending posts will be edited or deleted.

And please try to keep your posts on topic.

Please note I am no longer posting as Hojusaram but as Te Luo Yi.

Let's see where this goes shall we?
