I recently had a good discussion with our reserve army man who is also my work colleague. This man believed that all other religions are worth less as they do not worship the son of god. His idea was that western countries need to fight Arabs as they are rejector of Jesus. To cut the story short, the discussion ended up on second coming of Christ. By this time this army man had few beers and started to speak more profoundly about his hatredof Arabs and all people with black hair and brown eyes. At this time I asked him how you think Christ's second coming will be, in reply he was quick toanswer, he will return the same way as hehad ascended to heaven. In reply I said, Well then he would look more like an Arab thanyou think and most likely he would also have black hair and brown eyes.Should have seen his face, priceless.later, again he said 'crucify allah' in replay i said remember some people about 2000 years ago said the same about Jesus, it did not work, so may be it might not work again, this time someone else might resurrect. Since then this army guy has not uttered a word about christianity to me.

Trust me, your friend is a Reservist for a reason! Full of vim and vigour but generally lacking in substance.

Blessings,

Ian

P.S. It might be helpful not to think of this chap as an 'Army man'. If such was what he really was, then he'd be part of the Regular force.

I do not get you, are you suggesting that my friend is justified in his hatred for arabs (muslims)? And if I am not wrong you are also an army man.  Has your career change has any thing to do with your christian belief.  Or in other words have you picked up wapons to defend our country from the percieved threat from other religions namely islamism.

Amen,

I do not get you, are you suggesting that my friend is justified in his hatred for arabs (muslims)?

No. I was suggesting that your friend really hasn't a clue.

And if I am not wrong you are also an army man.

Yes. But the only people who call me an 'Army man' are the three to five year old age bracket that I occasionally bump into at McDonalds

Has your career change has any thing to do with your christian belief.

My career hasn't changed in close to two decades. And I was a Christian before I became a soldier.

Or in other words have you picked up wapons to defend our country from the percieved threat from other religions namely islamism.

Perhaps I should answer this way: I have 'picked up weapons' (as you put it) to defend others against the very real threat posed by Islamic extremists (some of them being your former countrymen). But such was the result of the existence of said extremism, and not the cause.

Blessings,

Ian

P.S. Are you still in Brisbane, or have you moved on?

So you are suggesting that I am of that age group -  ha ha.

I was of the impression that you were some sort of teacher in country victoria 3-4 years ago.

Or in other words have you picked up wapons to defend our country from the percieved threat from other religions namely islamism.

Gee, where were you when an australian christian extremist was terrorising our lives in my former country?

P.S. Are you still in Brisbane, or have you moved on?

Yes I am still in Brisbane.  Comfortable but still struggle with language and may be that is why you are calling me childish.

Amen,

*Sigh*. I wasn't calling you childish. I was simply pointing out that the term 'Army man' is what is most often found on the lips of the very young when they see someone in a military uniform. 'Soldier' tends to be the word that most older people use.

Blessings,

Ian

P.S. Furthermore, I was in the Army 3 to 4 years ago as well. My role at the time was Senior Instructor/Officer Commanding of an Army training organisation.
