Eric, chaire.

You're not that far off being 'hooded' a Bachelor of Theology, and I'd really like for you to engage a little more often, here, if your studies allow you the time. I believe you have much to offer in this respect, and your engagement would go quite a way to removing the impression held by some that this is simply the "Moth-and-SOTT-show".

Will try to.. My studies this year are full blast plus I work 11pm to 7am as a doulos for the Coles Supermarket Grocery Chain at Forest Lake... I took on the job at Coles because it pays my way through college and affords me more time at college, in particularly the college library and it is only 10 minutes from home by car but that's the price I pay for study. The money is good a Coles and the pays better than being in my old trade of telecommunications though. I am fortunately blessed though that I own my little modest surburban house and that make the finances a little easier  ( plus the Magna is in good nick too BTW - not blowing any smoke yet LOL) ....

Thanks Eric, your contributions are very much appreciated. You'll notice that the forum does not generate a huge amount of traffic, but when stray individuals come on board to question the trappings of the Revival doctrine, it would be great to hear more opinions of those who have a decent grasp of the topics at hand.

Thanks again.

Hi Ian,

I was thinking about you today and I hope you are enjoying your easter.

I would have nailed this on that other thread called " Light reading " but anyway this will do.

It is an interesting thought that here we are today with all our fancy software, clever little printers  and language fonts and what not.. Our shelves stocked with all sorts of references and language dictionaries and commentaries in our own little theology comfort zones.. But I was reflecting on what it must have been like for Paul... All he had was his parchment scrolls, an inkhorn and a scribing pen and out came the beginnings of the transmission of the Gospel... My My how little we appreciate what we have received from Paul's witness with the meagre setup he had...

So have a great Easter Ian.. will talk soon

Eric

Hey Eric,

Don't forget the most important thing that Paul had, Jesus and guidance from the Holy Spirit.

Ralph.

Hello Eric,

I hope you're having a great easter weekend! I was just thinking that what Paul had back then, we still have today - he had a revelation of who Jesus is. Because Jesus is the same yesterday today and forever, we can still have that revelation today. In fact we can ask God for fresh revelation each day when we pick up the Word of God. At times I've reflected on how awesome it would have been to be around when Jesus was here on earth but I think at times the disciples had their own issues that made it difficult for them to understand His teachings clearly.

I feel extremely honoured, humbled and blessed beyond measure that I can have a personal relationship with the God who created the universe. I long to know Jesus more intimately and like any relationship the more I know Him the more I love Him.

God bless, Urch

Don't forget though, that although Paul was a man of the Spirit, He was equally a man of the Word.. Paul had an enormous grounding in the Word as a Pharisee and it is easily extrapolated from scripture that Paul was very dedicated to very high level to the Word both before and after He met Jesus... We need to be the same and I also say this. It becomes well nigh impossible to discern the ministry of The Spirit to you without the nourishment of the Word. They both go together and are never inseparable.

Also I need to double check Ian on this, but I think Paul may have made several references to the LXX in some of his epistles. I can't really check this now as the only LXX I have is an electronic version. Next time I venture into Woolloongabba, I'll nosy on down to the languages section at Koorong and bring one home with me.

blessings everyone

Eric

ps Got one on order and I can pick it up next Sunday at my local churches bookshop ( my local has an account at Koorong and by arrangement with my "local" and Koorong, I can get anything from Koorong via my "Local". This is always a good arrangement. My local gets paid a commission, I get a discount being a student and the commission goes towards missions..
