About six times a yearI get my arm twisted by Mrs Mole to attend Sunday meetings. In the early days the "translation" seemed to be twice as long as the actual "Tongue Speak" but lately it seems to be the other way round with in most instances a much shorter "translation"Any ideas? DTM

Hi, DTM.

'Tongues' again, huh? *grooaaannnn*

About six times a year I get my arm twisted by Mrs Mole to attend Sunday meetings.

Lucky you!

In the early days the "translation" seemed to be twice as long as the actual "Tongue Speak" but lately it seems to be the other way round with in most instances a much shorter "translation". Any ideas?

Try this one on for size: 1 Corinthians 14:2 & 13-17 makes plain that when someone offers a 'tongue' in church, that it is the person's spirit that is praying to God. If the 'interpretation' comes back sounding as if it was from God to the people, then clearly it ain't a valid 'interpretation' This, of course, rules out completely all Revivalist 'interpretations'. You see, the Revivalists mistakenly believe that 'tongues' equals the Holy Spirit; therefore, when someone prays in 'tongues' (Scripture however uses 'if'), that it is the Spirit praying through them. Balderdash and poppycock!

Blessings,

Ian

Brolga,

The spiritual gifts listed in 1 Corinthians have absolutely nothing to do with what is recorded in the book of Acts. Pentecost or otherwise.

Blessings,

Ian

Hi D-T-M the reason is all hollins is interpretating is from his own thoughts. How often does the same word in tongues have many many English words when translated? Never did believe that side of it. A mate from work many years ago sent a non believer in who yelled out a race call very fast and hollins interpreted. I noticed later he was very carefull he recognised who was giving the message and occaisonally would refuse a translation which must have been devastsing to the individual if they where from the assembly. More control tactics here too, pope hollins having the devine power to select a real one from a phony? or maybe at times to belittle an individual .

Any ideas

Interpretations getting shorter? Yeah, it's all been said before and generation x-y-z's attention spans are getting shorter due to Youtube and X-Boxing. Revivalists must be finding it harder to ad-lib the interpretation that seems to come across like a forced message 'from' god () provoked by a gibberish tongues prompt.

There's a good thread here with some articles on the Revivalists' take on 'the' gifts; one of which was written by Ian. I lifted from the Brisbane Revival Fellowship forum from back in its hey day - lol.
