Just something sent to me by email before I left. I'm sure some of you can see the exclusivity of the final comments and the unscriptural teachings.

Oh and hello Pr P, it's funny that you keep on checking out this forum. I guess some truths are hitting raw nerves. Instead of hiding, why don't you just say which user you are. oh and. I KNOW you look on here!

If anyone is thinking of joining TRF, then the beliefs are below.... Oh and also, the dress codes, the style of singing and so forth.... if you look hard enough then you will find Jesus, but that generally happens when you pray at home and study your bible without TRF goggles on.

I must say, God always answers your prayers if you are sincere in what you are seeking. I found a place where the people love each other, the teaching is exceptional, the praise is just as it is described in the psalms, the body is made up of all nationalites and ages and you can genuinely see people want to be there and serve Jesus. They serve the community and feed the poor, plenty of outreaching in the Spirit that Jesus gave. It really is exciting being a Christian and being around others with the vision set forth in the New Testament. Praise God's mighty name, our Creator, healer, Father.... our EVERYTHING.


The Fundamentals:

 

We believe that Jesus, the Son of God, came to this earth to preach the Gospel of the Kingdom of God, to give his life as an atonement for the sins of the world and to set up His church.

 

We believe it is He that has called us and made us fishers of men (Mat 4:19).

 

We believe it is He that has commanded us to “Go into all the world and preach the Gospel…” (Mar 16:15).

 

We believe it is He that teaches us that individuals obtain their salvation by means of repentance, baptism, the receiving of the Holy Spirit and by continuing on, as overcomers, in the body of Christ (Joh 3:5-7; Act 2:37-47; Rev 21:7).

 

We believe it is He that has set up the church, Himself being the  head, and ourselves members in particular, as it has pleased Him (1Co 12:12-18).

 

We believe it is He that has appointed certain ones to be oversight for the purpose of ministering to the church that the church might be  edified, kept pure and free from false doctrine and so presented as a chaste virgin to Christ (Eph 4:11-16; 2Co 11:1-4).

 

We believe it is He that has revealed His word to us, by the Holy Spirit. We do not need commendation from men or qualifications from religious institutions (Act 4:13;   1Co 2:6-16; 2Co 3:1-6).

 

We believe that God has called us into the true church and that the Revival Fellowship is a part of that.

 

We do not believe that we are the only group of people that believe these things.

 

We do not believe that God has called us to find out who those other groups may be.

 

We do believe that God has called us to preach the Gospel to the unsaved and not to actively seek out other Spirit Filled people/fellowships with a view to “reforming” them or joining with them (Rom 15:20-21). If they want our advice, we are happy to give it.

 

We do believe that everything we need in terms of wisdom, ministry, teaching, how to spread the Gospel, how to run our meetings etc. has been provided for us, by the Lord, through the Spirit and his Word, within the framework of the Revival Fellowship and therefore we do not need to investigate how other religious groups go about doing things.

 

We do have certain guidelines and principles, based on Bible teaching, that are designed to help people feel safe and happy in their walk in the Lord.

 

We do expect that the people who are baptized and Spirit Filled through our ministry will “steadfastly continue” with us in spreading the Gospel (Act 2:41-47).

 

We do welcome anyone from any background as long as they are prepared to fit in with the above.

 

 

 

 

 

 

For discussion:

 

The Principles behind

 

  1. Standard of dress at meetings.
  2. Choruses, songs, items, music.
  3. Requirements for being involved in items, introducing new songs and other roles in the Fellowship.
  4. Resolving disputes (Mat 18:15-19).
  5. Being committed to the Revival Fellowship (and in particular the Yorkshire RF) as being your fellowship of choice in which to serve the Lord (Jam 1:8; 1Co 1:10 ).

Anyway, here you go.... further unwise literature from DF from London with regards to the internet.

Some of those guys just  join forums and facebook networks etc simply to snoop on others.

Well, no matter how 'brightly' they may attempt to package their nonsense, one can still spell 'Revival Fellowship' shorthand: L-E-G-A-L-I-S-M.

Thanks for the DF doc it was very interesting read.  I loved the part about "potentially dodgy doctrine" and how "we wouldn't bring 'church' books to a meeting now would we?".  Standard basics stuff.

Also very interesting the new statements of faith regarding other churches "we do not need recomendations from men or from religious institutions"...except that is for one religious institution.

Not one mention of tongues.

The bit that sticks in my craw is "within the framework of the Revival Fellowship".

Maybe, just like in grieving, there are various stages one must go through when one leaves a cult. I've gone through the brief period of denial and seem am a bit stuck on 'anger'. Anger at myself, mainly, for not realising sooner that 'within the framework' sits a hollow doctrine devised by men. A counterfeit gospel of proof rather than of grace.

Hey Chippy

Like you I went through a whole range of emotions and I've noticed that they seem to follow a similar pattern in everyone that leaves these organisations. The important thing though is to not get stuck on the 'anger' one too long. It was very humbling for me to look back and realise that I 'went along' with it all for so long - from believing a lie and propogating that lie, right through to being a judgmental, critical person. But I've seen a few people who left rf many many years ago who have got 'stuck' on the anger (and bitterness) emotion - and it's completely ruined them. (and I'm certainly not suggesting that of you). Bitterness only hurts the person who feels bitter - not the organisation that they're bitter against.

I've learnt to look to God rather than be negative about my past experience cos everything I've been through in life has been for a purpose. Because of my time there, I now have compassion and understanding for those either 'stuck in the system' or those wanting to leave but finding it hard. I believe that if we can relate to what they're going through because we've been there ourselves, then God can use us to help the poor souls.

The gauntlet of emotions sound all too familiar.
I tend to think that whatever I did  or said whilst in Rc I did in service to God with the purest intention. The same with giving my tithes, yes I have ill thoughts towards the counterfeit and the hypocrisy but that wont be answered to by me. My heart was in honesty and devotion to following my Lord, even if I didnt have it right.
The word of God doesn't return void.

Ha, I remember being at an officers' meeting a few years back when there was serious deliberation and confusion over some organisational problems we were having dealing with Sunday School/Bible classes and communion and etc. I suggested we ask some of the larger churches in town how they problem solved various scenarios that may have been similar to ours.
There was silence for a second and a half, and then I was completely ignored. Fancy that! Asking a non-Revival group for advice?! It was about that time I started thinking that maybe, just possibly, Revivalists don't have an answer for everything. How arrogant are they that they give extremely little regard to anyone outside of their relatively little community.

You've both got it right. Anger and bitterness is a waste of my time and doesn't help. I often have a realisation from nowhere about certain things done and said over the years that may also be questionable in the day to day running of the RF. Hits me like a thunderbolt when I think of the guilt I'd feel if I didn't turn up to a prayer and fast. So these were the times I 'wagged' and got it right by default, spending time with my family.

Urch - you're right about the understanding and empathy. I'm not sure what I'd have done if I hadn't accidentally found this site and you lot.

This site also reconnected me with an old friend who has been very gracious and understanding.

Moth: I wonder at your courage to even suggest using your noggin and asking advice from others. We reinvented the wheel so many times, ah?

So true spot on PB arrogant bastards they talk about the multitude of the council as long as the council is not made up of ''outsiders"

 Isnt that just really really sad though, I mean the one of the thing's that i love the most is how churches do connect with each other,  and learn from each other and grow from each other.

This truely is the body of Christ in action, "if all is the eye where is the hearing" its our weaknesses that actually can bring us unity, ie "we dont do this area so well , but i hear the baptist down the road have it together lets see if they can help us, and i know that they stuggle in this area that we have been succesful in so maybe we can help them in that" .

This is truth for inderviduals and for church groups, if we can all get past out minor differences and learn to work with eadh other, love each other grow from and with each other, what a differerence we can make on this world.

Instead people choose to stand alone and go na iv got it right and you are all wrong etc etc, and the world out there is going "what the" why would i want to become a christian, you carnt even agree amongst yourselves.

I find this one of the saddest things and im sure it break's God's heart when this goes on, we are called to be Christ to the world, and yet all they often see is self righteous nuts proclaiming that they are it and no one else is add nauseum.

Please Church's wake up smell the roses we must make Christ the center of it all Love him love each other and most important love the unloved, the lost etc even if they dont "respond" we must love them.
