Baptisms in the RCI are an absolute joke.

So - the RCI decided to baptise my 7 year old daughter this coming weekend.

Why?  Because she babbled out some glossolalia that she was taught.

Does she understand the gospel?  You know, the real gospel - beleive in the Jesus as your Lord and Saviour and you will be saved?  No she doesn't as yet.  She was told the 1-2-3 from RCI and they have confused her.

Did they invite or allow the Father of the child along?  No.  The father is seen as the enemy of the church....


Am I surprised at all?  Not at all.

Is this baptism eficacious?  Not at all.

So the question really has to be asked of everyone I suppose - Is YOUR baptism eficacious?  Was it a result of believing the true gospel, or was it a result of being told to adhere to "Acts 2:38" "salvation message"?

Do you believe a DIFFERENT gospel now to the one that was presented to you?

Do baptism / confirmation and communion need to be based on the true gospel first in order to be eficacious?
Or can they become eficacious after leaving RCI once the true gospel is understood?

I will be certainly scrutinising my own understanding of things at the time of my baptism and will have to make a judgement on this for myself.  The gospel I believe now is NOT the gospel I believed when I was baptised.

I am currently of the opinion that not only was my baptism non-eficacious, but also would explain my lack or halting of regeneration at the time also.

Good morning, Paul.

There's actually another question that probably needs to be asked first: is Revivalist baptism Christian baptism to begin with? I think too many people simply presume that such actually is the case, and then without first reflecting on the preconditions that infuse the rite with its Christian character. Consider, does Mormon baptism qualify because people are baptised into the 'name' of Jesus? Hardly, as the Mormon Jesus isn't the biblical Saviour, and the Mormon 'gospel' isn't the Christian gospel. Now 'delete' Mormon and insert 'Revivalist'. Let's be honest, what's changed?

Personally, I hold my Presbyterian baptism as a wee tacker to be the efficacious rite, and not my RCI dunking.

Absolutley.  I am having a meeting tonight with some Anglican clergy to arrange my Christian Baptism.  Hopefully it will be a matter of weeks away.

Once I explained the situation to the Anglican clergy, they have also agreed that RCI baptisms are not Christian, just as other new age religions.  They have also sufferred the experience of running into RCI whilst on holiday, and were utterly disgusted with their manner and their arrogance.
