Hi Folks,

A report of another RCI financial scandal have arisen.

Apparently another businessman in the RCI has taken moneys from RCI members in a property type investment scheme and yet more people have lost inheritences and their homes.

Can anyone shed light on this?

Reports are at least 2 people have lost on this, and were offered  5% of the total moneys invested.

Reports are that some lost their life savings and some lost their homes.

There must be some very poor people in RCI.

Paul,

Geez! Just how much "fleecing" of one's "flock" can one "church" tolerate?! And I'm betting the RCI hierarchy is contemplating a series of "talks" on 1 Corinthians 6 in the near future

Blessings,

Ian

Whatever happened to the policy of not touting for business within the assembly? In the past people have gotten into trouble for small-time stuff such as promoting pyramid marketing such as Amway.

The ethics of a pastor doing what reportedly went on with the RVP Group were despicable, but how was it allowed to get that far? How could said principal of the business be not committed to making the best restitution he can, if indeed he does have assets squirrelled  away. As I understand it, if a business of (the very savvy) Bob Ansett's sank, he chose to go down with the ship. Shouldn't Christian business-people have a similar attitude?

It all seems to validate the maxim of  being highly wary when mixing business and family .

Good morning, Talmid.

Whatever happened to the policy of not touting for business within the assembly? In the past people have gotten into trouble for small-time stuff such as promoting pyramid marketing such as Amway.

Well, perhaps the "rules" are a little different when (a) Oversight are involved, and (b) there is the promise of reaping potentially large dividends! smiley11

The ethics of a pastor doing what reportedly went on with the RVP Group were despicable, but how was it allowed to get that far?

As I understand it, too many RCI leaders had their hands in the cookie jar, and then way past their elbows! Simon could hardly punish such an "august" group; far, far easier to blame those victims lower down on the "food-chain". Oh, and it wouldn't surprise me one bit were I to discover that those leaders who naively invested in Duker's scheme received restitution. "Different rules for different fools" in the RCI, or so it seems at any rate.

It all seems to validate the maxim of  being highly wary when mixing business and family.

Yes. And as St Jerome quipped fifteen hundred years ago, "...flee with great haste from the man who is at the same time a man of the church and a man of business!"

Blessings,

Ian

How can the Pastors reprimand or stop The Dukers or anyone else for doing business in the Church when they the Pastors are the very ones setting the example of being involved in business in the church.
Pastor Simon Longfield has done business with Glenn, and the following Pastors are also involved, Victor Samoilenko, David MacIntyre, Ian Paske, Steve McCauley, Kevin Lovelock, Craig Fox,  Mattew Duker and Glenn Duker was a Pastor during his time of 'Fleecing of the flock'. Quite possibly there are more, the Legal Examinations taking place will reveal on public record all associated transactions.

The Laws of the land has 'allegedly' been broken and that's where this situation is being dealt with.
The majority of creditors taking Supreme Court action against RVP have no associated with RCI.
