Hello All,My time with the RCI was brief which was good, i was a lucky one.Many years ago i lived in the same town that simon longfield and his wife wendy lived in which was Kinglake,In early 1991 wendy approached me to go to her church i was attending the uniting Church i which i occasionally attend today.The Longfields were lovely to me but they explained in a very nice way that i was'nt a saved christian because i did'nt speak in tongue's and after showing me scripture and i believing it i decided to go to their church.Over a period of 2-3 months of early 1991 i attended their church in which Simon and his family drove myself to and i found both Simon and Wendy to be Lovely people .After convincing myself i can speak in tongue,s after a few sunday visit,s to their Forum theatre complex in melbourne i decided to bring my 10 year old brother in which their was a suttle pressure from myself and The RCI to get him "Spiritaulized" this started to get weird after a few more visits .I had a conversation with Lloyd Longfield one day when he started bragging about his luxury car and questioning my little old corolla this was a big turn off.My Brother decided to stop going the whole tongue's thing freaked him out.Then i was asked to tithe more money into the RCI coffer's by Simon after a few month's and shortly after that i decided to stop attending The RCI.AT all time,s i never felt threatened or scared the pressure i speak off was minimal so the RCI are full on but their doing what they belief in and have the freedom to so, the longfield's are nice people with radical belief's but they can do it in Australia their not breaking any laws.dazzamanazaBeginner, be gentle!Posts :2Reg :27/03/2007From :AustraliaDate Posted:29/03/2007 01:55:37 AMAs i was saying in my previous introduction that my time with the RCI was a brief 2 - 3 month period in early 1991 and i came in as outsider not someone who was raised under the influence of this church.i came across this website by curiosity and i find it interesting and suprising How this church has affected some people.The speaking in tongue's thing and being asked for more money put me off but i could never imagine Simon longfield and the RCI institution upseting so much people.I still belief in God and Jesus and i occasionally go to a uniting church in richmond i didnt go to domination church from 1996 to 2006 as i went a non demonation service ran by the navy as i served in the defence forces in those years.Over the year's i have learnt that radical religon is a cancer on this planet .Moderate voice's are better option, people should accept one another regardlee of opinion.Extremists from islam are blowing themselve's and other's for the pursuit of god what rubbish.Evangelical Right wing christians are pushing the pentagon for a further war in the middle east so jesus will return, well this is,nt right.Countrie's like Australia and other's have abandoned refugee's in countrie's like rwanda and help their need's in oil rich nation's and seem less compassionate than year's ago.People need to open their eye,s the world is changing and need to be more compassionate .The bible and koran are just book,s and should'nt be taken so seriously that people are ridiculed and killed.People with illnesses such as epilepsy over a century ago were deemed satanic and were ridiculed by religous bodie's.Women were not equal in the eye's of religous bodie's and certain race's were not equal as well. Well this was a Primitive way of thinking and problem with Religon it can take on primitive thinking and need's to get with the time,s. We are all equal regardless of RACE,RELIGON,SEX,CLASS,POLITICAL BELIEF'S,SEXUAL OREINTATION AND AGE.One thing that was good about being in the navy was how everyone was protected and equal .You could belong to any religous group providing they did,nt affect your service. ie' being a violent institution ,you could be muslim,hindu,christian, as long as respected others and their belief,s .You could be alp or liberal,democrats as long as you respected other's opinion's. You COULD NOT discriminate one on ground's of their Age,Sex,Religous belief or those who were gay or lesbian in which most were upstanding people and especially against one's race.Any one found breaching these rule's could have been punished and most likely discharged depending on the severity of the situation.It was The federal labour goverment of 1983-1996 that put this anti discrimination law into the Australian Defence Force workplace.If only Politicians, world leader's,religous leader's,and everyone else practised what some preach then we would live in a world of peace.Xenophobia is the devil.An open heart is the path to happiness and god.
