Does anyone remember sometime when  in the late 80's early 90's when Noel Hollins was preaching at Ocean Grove camp and he swallowed a fly ... man I remember that, it was the only time I can recal Noel Hollins ever cracking a smile!

Sometimes all we remember are the bad, horrible, controling, crap we went through at the GRC, but there are some funny memories aswell, anyone else wanna share some?

Some of the funniest things I ever saw were:

1. Peter and Lyn Cornalissa singing "Praise the Lord" to the tune of, in their words, "Fairer Jacka".
2. Les Shermer splitting his dacks whilst MC, and having to walk off the stage backwards.
3. Brian Reed's poetry
4. Watching Warren Lunt getting shreds torn off him by Mick Brydon at the back of the marquee for giving a 20 minute talk on stage when he was invited up on stage to give a brief testimony.
5. Ken Insley and Jo Marell beating the crap out of each other at camp and being sent home like little kids.
6. Margarita walking down the aisle back to her seat after powdering her nose, with her underwear on the outside.
7. Alan Benzies' mother, a nurse, who used to rub her shoes against her stockings during the meetings, which created a very irritating, but funny for some, noise.
8. Malcom Rollins' old man who used to birp through the entire meeting.
9. Mona Carr (Robin Carr's old man) whose prophesies were legendary, viz, Picture this at the top of his lungs "One man............ One man and his dog............... One man and his dog, Spot..............One man and his dog, Spot, went to mow a meadow!
10. Counting the number of "Yeas" during an individual prophesy. John Strumple junior broke the record with 150, including 3 in a row with varying degree of pitch, "Yea...... Yea (in a really high pitch),  yea (in a really low pitch).
11. Any time Horst Arbentroph opened a meeting in prayer. ("Vee sank you farza zat you led za children of Iszrael through za vilderness and zat you opened za red sea for Mozez, blah blah blah ten minutes later, Amen"  BTW is he still kicking?
12. Dean Clutterbuck (all 200 kgs of him) falling asleep during the meetings and snoring his head off.
13. A crazy woman who came to the meeting wearing branches in her hair.
14. Bill Solly's speech at Matthews 21st, when he said that Matthew suffered from epilepsy. Old Ruby at the back of the sunday school hall piped up with, "Athhhhhma Bill,  Athhhhhma!!"

Some great ones there HtNN, I remember some of those ...

There were many funny items I can remember, can't remember his name, (someone else here might) this guy I think he was from tassie who couldn't sing for peanuts but every year without fail at Ocean Grove, he would get up there and singing  his heart our.  Also one thing I couldn't stand was when PA sang her items ... aaahhh gives me shivers just thinking about it.

Classic testimonies, I remember RB testifying that he had the 24hour flu, had prayer and the very next day he was healed ... like der it was a 24 hour flu.  Another time he also testified how the Lord healed his budgie.  Another person once testified that the Lord healed their glasses ... mmmm

Y_n_more,
Our   'Friend' to whom you refer to was  Peter Cornelisa ( I hope I'm close to the spelling ).  Now he was a gem, a bit over the top but a genuine 'guy'.

He got up on stage to sing a chorus, and without music if I remember right, and poor Peter couldn't find a key even if he lived in a Grand Piano ! He had an abnormal talent to be  "off-key" in every word he would utter. Still,  the show must go on and Peter bellowed out his chorus in ear piercing, gut-renching and screeching monotone noise that even a dog would run under a speeding petrol tanker truck - just to escape!  .......   but escape we couldn't and so we bore the whole chorus with stunned looks on our red faces with total embarrassment.
Then after this, came the punch line when Peter then went on to opologize and explain why he did it, He said,
" I know I can't sing, but I have such a joy in my heart, I just want to let it out. Now if the Lord was standing up here with me to sing, you would all scramble out of your seats to be up here with me too!"

Well ! You could feel everyone in the marque shrink and cringe in their deck chairs where we sat. Peter was spot-on and quite right in what he said.

Hats off to you .... Peter Cornelisa.  Does anyone know what became of Peter, his wife and her 3 kids. She came from Geelong and moved back to Tassie with Peter - I took their wedding photos as my present for them.

ps.   oh, and I do recall the evening ? when Noddy swallowed a fly - I don't know why, but he swallowed a fly- perhaps he'll ... ?
