The often quoted "all they want is a better life" ...so what's wrong with that? Parental arranged marriages. Marriages of convenience. Marriages by lust. Marriages by love etc. etc. My guess is that they'd all have about the same ratio of success or failure. Ours was predicted by many not to last...next month marks 38 years...we often remark as we get older, how glad we are that we have each other.
My son is home for three weeks from Taiwan to see us and present his Taiwanese fiance. She has cooked (yummy spicy chooks' legs on one occassion), washed and helped etc. We have decided besides all that (and have told them) we are not happy with their marriage and the two of them coming to Australia. We want to keep her and Caleb can stay in Taiwan. Just kidding. We took her to Daylesford and Bendigo. She had never seen so much road kill. She remarked that perhaps they collect it and eat quicker in Taiwan! She has a cutting wit and so we get on really well. My son chided me for teaching her that the reply to "how are you going?" is "fan-bloody-tastic". She has adapted well to our manic household and Rocky our dog loved her from the start.
As much as I have bad memories of Jim Kinnane and his "Revival" doctrines, he was never a racist. I never thought Scott was, but doing his own distorted thing with him in command, years on, it was obviously part of his psyche.
Then again Jim eschewd BI and Scott loved it. From time to time some on this forum professing to have put it behind them spew forth the white Anglo-Saxon and/or Celtic superiority twaddle. Skin colour is not what makes people evil, it is evil culture they adopt or are taught and embrace that is the problem.
