I have recently noticed that all those in the GRC that used to be on Facebook have gone - does someone know if they have been told not to use the sight?

Yes I mentioned that in one of my latest replies over in the Canberra thread. There was a massive Internet snitching operation in October 2007 where one of the GRC computer geeks working for the pastors went through searching the Internet for lots of people, particularly on Facebook and reporting back to Noel. I'm not sure what the outcome of that was if people were being approached one on one with print-outs of photos and messages (like I was) and being told to cease and desist then that would explain why they're all gone.

Hey

that parody is very clever!

I'm pretty certain that noel hollins page is a fake...at least i hope it is because of the content.

I added some of the Kids i grew up with, one of them added me then removed me the same day, the others didn't add me at all

I'm guessing they're told not to.

I suppose I could be seen as a "danger" to their impressionable minds

Oh well

Thanks for your support Nut ... not!

Maybe YOU could be a little more positive or simply go. Okay? I'm sure your other forum is more to your doctrinal liking, being pro-Revival doctrine in nature and I encourage you to stay there if this is going to be your ongoing attitute. If you do however decide to start threads in my/our forum, and in this new 'ex-member only' room I will ask you to be a little less nasty, if possible.

The Ex-GRC status has just been properly declared and many threads have been moved over from other rooms, so there is a past presence of some non-ex-members in many of the threads.

This moderator is staying around and won't let the sails flap in the wind. Ian HAS agreed NOT to post in this room or in any threads created therein. I am not an ex-GRC member and so therefore I bid you adieu and leave you to yourselves.

Now I don't want to rock the boat nor kick the bucket - but I am somewhat confused. Please don't miss understand me but I was lead to believe, like others, that this is ............

                        http://revival.aimoo.com/Ex-GRC-Members-ONLY-Coffee-sho-1-26309

We have been berated, scorned, belittled bashed about the head for various argumentative reasons. Of course we are wrong, always have been, we are idiots, dumb and stupid to think that the  Forum  Category Titled  " GRC " was for ex-GRC's !

Oh I could go on and on, winge and complain, but then that would make me like .....  .  As before , I'm here to help those in need and obviously the other site cannot cater for those poor souls.

Now already I see that non- ex GRCr's are posting here and I see no problem with that if they to can help to by being positive to the cause -- to help others --  and not argue  point for point over who knows what. I feel awkward that it has come to this and we must appear to be a little  pretentiously precious
to others on the Forum at large, but I'm not concerned as to what others think on that score, we need to get back to the business at hand .

So cheers everyone , " lets do what we can ".

The second GRC room was originally created because the number of threads within the original room had gathered nearly 500 threads of conversation. That's a lot, and I thought a second room was warranted and I wanted to give it a theme that differentiated itself a little from the original, just for ease of sorting and searching and maintainability purposes. Maybe it's a mistake for me to think you would all like a dedicated forum that was more in-house than the open-house original. I, myself, would prefer to merge them and let all post wherever they like, and let the disheartening whining dissenters and negative Nellys go elsewhere.

Maybe you can come up with a better theme for it - I'm certainly open to suggestions. Maybe you'd like to moderate it? Or maybe you could encourage more people to cut me some slack and thank me for the years of this mostly thankless service I've had hosting, cleaning, protecting, paying for, and organising this forum. But whatever, you know? I'm thankful for what we've got and what we've done so far.

We have thousands of posts in hundreds of threads in the GRC room, and I feel it's important that the information is as accessible as possible. Three years ago I spent weeks making an index to all the threads of note, but this was destroyed when Aimoo changed the whole indexing system. Suffice to say, I value the contributions made over the years and hope it continues.

It seems really dumb to set up a forum room that's main difference is that one of our staff (:p) has agreed not to join in. Anyway, for now let it be an experimental period. Those that really want to avoid interacting with Ian may use the new room, but let me just say this, if you take notice you see that in the very most part, Ian has only piped up when doctrinal matters arise.

I've applied rules to the forum, even though I get the usual complaints that "their churches had rules and regulations too :(", and well, that's just silly. Rules are everywhere, and they should be reasonable. Revival Rules and Guidelines were not. That withstanding, I've spoken to Ian and he agrees that he should get a 'slap' every now and again and should ease up a bit, and I'm getting the sense that some positivity should be ecouraged, but all the while NOT holding back our personalities. We're all individuals. We all share a similar story. And we all want the same outcomes. We're here to help.

I try to stay out the way and I'm learning lots as it goes. I'm looking forward to another Doctor to take the TARDIS at some stage though. Cheers.

Dr Who

I'd like to say that, without this forum, my exit from The Revival Fellowship would have been far more difficult. I cannot overstate how impressed I was from the very start with the honesty and integrity of those who responded to my first post and have kept me informed and encouraged. To say I feel a sense of being 'looked after' is no exaggeration.  I look back at my first post from time to time, just to see how far I've come.

So, Uncoolman, please add me to the long list of those who appreciate what you began and continue to do.

Dear Moddy,
Firstly, I must opologize for not posting sooner but I have had an urgent need last night to attend too - I had to do my Tax !   Bugger !

Thankyou for all your hours of help in maintaining the Forum for us all.  We all at times must test your patience but most of all I to remember when Aimoo decided to ' upgrade' and then ... what a mess !
You even went to the effort of starting up another 'Temporary site' to keep things going,  and it's because of you that we have this site today.  So thanks from me and I know all those who visit here even though they don't post, yet they get the benifit of reading of other stories to which they can relate to. It must be so helpful.

Then there were the times where I asked you for help and you even deleted a post for me when it was intended as a pm (private message) and nfp (Not for publication).

While we're here, can you tell us a little about how we get our  " RANK"

 Wow

How apt that a facebook thread would be so 'freindly'... there's a lot of love in this room right now! :)

I'd like to thank 'all' the moderators, but I know some don't read anymore and I'm so thankful for the forum being here when I needed it and that it stays alive even in the face of so many different personality clashes. So many fun times and friends found. So many incredible stories have been told and it's been amazing to see so many people move on and grow. Priceless stuff.

Hey Urch,
... yep, because people DO have battles, and pain, and fear and often you'd just never know from the outer apperance.

In Revival-la-la-land I remember loving being a house-leader so I could go up to the prayer-line and listen to all the prayer requests. Oh Man! The things people used to confide in the 'trusted' oversight. Messed up stuff, and lots of it. These people didn't need some ignorant house-leader chanting prayers in their ears and a pat on the head, they often needed professional counselling, but such a thing was discouraged in 'The Church'.

I hope that attitude changed for some after leaving the organisations. Some people need professional help after leaving Revival, and this forum certainly ISN'T the place for it, and never has been. This is just a place for randoms to rant, and although we have some trained members give advice on the forum, they in no way can replace real life face to face contact with someone with some decent cert.'s on the wall behind them... obviously.

Hi

This reply is a bit 'late' but getting back on the original topic about facebook...

There was a talk one Sunday about the the appropriate use of the internet and that its a dangerous tool if not used properly. Sites like facebook are particulary bad (TAs words not mine) as ppl can hack into your private information, and so on so on.... hence we were told NOT to have these accounts.

The next day my facebook friends has vanished.... I simply 'hid' my account. :)
